GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! TUESDAY 4TH FEBRUARY 2014
Welcome to our Ischia blog, Good Morning Ischia! Here you can see the entry for Tuesday 4th February 2014.
Good Morning Ischia!
The blog is getting slightly earlier each day but the early morning slot is getting more and more difficult to achieve so I might have to come up with a name change soon, something like "Good Evening Ischia", or simply "Hello Ischia" so as not to put any time constraints on it, what do you think? Anyway it's been a great day on the island as we finally saw an end to the torrential rain that we've had over the past few days and it's been fairly pleasant this afternoon with the sun poking through.
Today's temperatures saw a maximum of 14° Celcius (57° fahrenheit) once again and right about now it's about 12° Celcius (53° fahrenheit). Looking ahead to the rest of the week the outlook continues to look a little unsettled with more rain on the way tomorrow afternoon but I don't mind if we get our annual quota out of the way now if it means a nice dry spring time.
Today's photo comes from Forio town centre, taken from a great little vantage point just above the harbour. As you can see, the town has a very pretty port area that is mostly frequented by small fishing vessels and some larger private yachts. Just out of the picture to the right is the hydrofoil port that transports passengers to and from Naples half a dozen or so times a day. In fact you can just about see where the passengers arrive with those three white gazebos on the right hand side.
Looking from the left of the photo you can see a yellow/mustard coloured building which is home to a little parade of shops & bars and as you move to the right you find one of the busiest parts of the island for night life. There are dozens of restaurants and bars along the seafront just behind the beach and during the summer it's in full swing with tourists and locals alike reveling in the warm evening temperatures with some delicious fresh fish or a few refreshing aperitivos.
The photo shows the main town area of Forio but the district itself stretches further in every direction towards the beaches of Cava dell'Isola and Citara to the south and Chiaia and San Francesco to the north. Although not the island's capital, Forio is Ischia's most popular town with tourists due to its aforementioned beaches, great selection of hotels & restaurants and for the simple fact that the sun sets there every evening meaning more afternoon and evening sunshine than on the opposite side of the island.
As with anything that takes your interest on the site you can always us ask more information so feel free to drop us a line if you have any questions about Forio or any of Ischia's other main towns.
That's all from me today anyway, I'll be back with more tomorrow. Have a nice evening wherever you are.
A domani!
