Hello everyone, it's a beautiful day for Carnevale in Ischia and after a lot of rain over the last few days we've finally got some nice warm temperatures and lots of sunshine. Right now at 230pm it's 15° Celcius (59° Fahrenheit) and that will drop down a little this evening to around 7°C (45°F) by midnight. Looking ahead for the rest of the week things are looking very good until at least the weekend. As mentioned above, it's carnevale in Italy today so we'll be out and about later to join in the fun and to see if we can get some good photos to share with you all. Today's photo is a view of Ischia Porto from the sea. Many people choose to hire a boat for the day when they visit Ischia and it's a great way to see the island and just generally chill-out. Ok back tomorrow. Buon carnevale!
Good afternoon everybody. We've had a dark, overcast and chilly day so far today and there will be a bit more rain to come over the next few hours as well. Right now at 230pm the temperature is 13° Celcius (55° Fahrenheit) but that won't drop too much as we get through the evening and should still be around 11°C (52°F) around midnight. Tomorrow looks to be a completely different story with a high of 16°C (61°F) predicted for the afternoon while for the rest of the week there will be lots of sunshine but feeling colder in the evenings. Today's photo comes from the road down to Maronti Beach where you can witness some spectacular sunsets over Sant'Angelo. Don't forget tomorrow is Carnevale in Italy so keep an eye out for those fancy-dress costumes! Back tomorrow, ciao :-)
Buonasera a tutti. It's a damp evening here in Ischia, after a week of generally sunny skies and warmer afternoons, we've had a bit of a blip today with a huge downpour over the last few hours. The temperature right now is 11° Celcius (52° Fahrenheit) and it looks like we'll have similar conditions tomorrow with things improving from Tuesday onwards. Sunday is usually the day for our weekly blog but we've decided to change things around a bit so that in addition to the daily weather & photo update there will be periodical articles but not always necessarily on a Sunday. Two days from now it will be "carnevale" in Italy which you'll be able to read about very soon. Today's photo is the magnificent Castello Aragonese in Ischia Ponte and watch this space for carnevale ;-)
Afternoon everybody, I hope you've all received the right little message or bunch of flowers from the person you were hoping to receive them from! St.Valentine's Day (San Valentino) is celebrated in Italy as much if not more as it is in most of the western world so as you walk around Ischia today you're bound to see lots of men, young and old looking awkward as they carry flowers or hold balloons intended for their loved ones. We're having a nice day weather-wise, this morning was quite cold but right now at 2pm it's 13° Celcius (55° Fahrenheit) and feeling nice and warm in the sun. Today's photo comes from Sant'Angelo where you can find a narrow but very scenic path that runs from the village over to Le Fumarole Beach. Back tomorrow, ciao :-)
My word I've just realised it's Friday the 13th! Well I hope you're all ok and you haven't been riddled with bad luck, just keep those fingers crossed for the next 8 hours or so and it'll all be over! In terms of the weather we're having another beautiful day, feeling nice and warm in the afternoon sunshine. The temperature right now at 415pm is 14° Celcius (57° Fahrenheit) and that will gradually slide down to about 5°C (51°F) this evening. The forecast for the next few days is for much of the same with a slight chance of some showers from Sunday to Tuesday next week and quite settled again beyond that. Today's photo comes from a quiet and peaceful Lacco Ameno harbour which looks great with the snow-capped mountains in the distance. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Good afternoon everyone. It's another beautiful day with the sun shining and again feeling much warmer than it has over the last few weeks. Just coming up to 3pm the temperature right now is 14° Celcius (57° Fahrenheit) but that will drop quite sharply as we get to the later part of this evening. The next few days also look to be very similar with just a small chance of some showers on Sunday. For today's photo I've chosen the bay of Sorgeto in Panza. Apart from its aesthetic beauty it's also famous for its natural hot springs which attract thousands of visitors every year. From the village of Panza you can walk along the country road down to Sorgeto and then down the steep steps to the bay itself where you can enjoy the natural jacuzzi completely free of charge. Back tomorrow, Ciao :-)
Afternoon all. Ah, we seem to have our Ischia back! After a very cold start to the day things warmed up very nicely throughout the afternoon with lots of glorious sunshine and warmth. After yesterday's huge storm it would be hard to imagine two days more different but that's winter weather for you I guess. Right now at almost 530pm it's starting to cool down a bit and the temperature is 11° Celcius (52° Fahrenheit). Without any cloud cover tonight will again be cold and almost down to freezing depending on whereabouts on the island you are but the outlook for the next few weeks remains very positive and dry. Today's photo highlights the changed conditions with Forio harbour bathed in sunshine instead of waves as it was yesterday. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Wow, we're really having some weather at the moment! Good afternoon all from a wind-battered Ischia where the void left by the long rainy spell has immediately been filled with gale-force gusts of more than 40mph, creating all kinds of havoc on and around the island. We've had ferries beached in Casamicciola, trees crashing on to the main road near Ischia Porto and all sorts of things generally flying through the air when they shouldn't be. Think the black and white scenes in Wizard of Oz and you'll be close! It is however bright and sunny and a great day for taking photos such as this one of Forio harbour. Right now at 230pm it's 5° Celcius (41° Fahrenheit) but feeling a good bit colder with the wind-chill. Time to wrap up warm! Back tomorrow, ciao:-)
Ciao a tutti e buona domenica! I hope you're all enjoying your Sunday and here in Ischia we've finally got rid of the damp weather that's been following us around for what feels like forever (more like a couple of weeks in reality though!). It's neither sunny nor overcast right now but somewhere in between and the temperature at 1pm is 10° Celcius (50° Fahrenheit). To replace the rain we've got a nice little cold snap coming up which should last for a few days but beyond that it's sunshine all the way. I'll be back later with the Ischia on Sunday Blog but for now I'll leave you with today's photo, the Pilastri Aqueduct that straddles the road when you pass from Ischia Porto to Barano. The aqueduct was built in the 19th Century but no longer used (unsurprisingly!). Ciao :-)
Afternoon all. We've had a real mixed bag of weather so far today including, sunshine, rain and even hailstones at one stage! Right now at 4pm it's sunny but raining which perfectly sums up the day and the current temperature is 11° Celcius (52° Fahrenheit). Looking ahead though things look a lot more promising and while the rest of today will continue to be unsettled, from tomorrow onwards we should be in for a sustained spell of drier conditions. Monday and Tuesday could bring a mini cold snap with evening temperatures of freezing or slightly lower so bring some warm clothes with you if you're planning a visit during this time. Today's photo comes from Ischia Ponte, the bar/restaurant known as "Cocò" that lies in front of Castello Aragonese. Back tomorrow :-)
