Good evening everyone. Today's update is extremely late and I'll have to give myself a good telling off to make sure it doesn't happen again! Circumstances are as always mitigating however and what I can report is that we've had a quite lovely day, cloudy for long periods but sunny and quite hot during others. The highest temperature this afternoon was 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit) while this evening will be fairly mild, dropping no lower than 13°C (55°F). Heavy in the air around the island today has been the intoxicating, sweet scent of the "ginestra" ("Scotch Broom" in English), combining well with the similar aromas of the purple wisteria. Today's photo is of the view from Sorgeto Hot Springs down to Sant'Angelo with said ginestra in evidence. Back tomorrow, ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. After all the sunshine we've had of late, today's cloudy conditions are a slight disappointment but it's really not that bad and with no threat of rain on the horizon, conditions are still great to get out and about to have a look around the island. Right now at 2:30pm the temperature is a smidgen under 20° Celcius (aka 19° Celcius) which translates as 66° Fahrenheit. This evening will be a good deal warmer than we've been used to, as much as 15°C (59°F) depending on which weather report you put your trust in. Looking ahead, we should have varying cloud cover for the rest of the weekend with outbreaks of sunshine before the cloud completely clears by early next week. Today's photo should simply be titled "Italy" (but it isn't). Back tomorrow, ciao :-)
Buongiorno a tutti! It's a glorious Friday afternoon in Ischia yet again. This morning was a bit iffy with a few very light drops of rain and occasional cloud but that looks to be clearing up quite nicely now. At the very moment it's nice and sunny and the temperature at 2:15pm is 21° Celcius which puts us nicely at the 70° Fahrenheit mark for the first time this year. Tonight will be similar to how it was last night with a minimum temperature of 11°C (52°F) while looking ahead at the next week or so, any lovers of rain will continue to be disappointed but there's just no sign of any on the horizon. So as we move into the weekend I'll leave you with a nice, bright shot of some boats in Forio harbour for today's photo and the promise of another update around this time tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon fellow Ischiaphiles! At risk of repeating myself it's yet another gorgeous day here and at the moment each one seems to be slightly nicer than the one before. There's not a cloud to be seen and there's a nice cool breeze which right now at 1:45pm is creating idyllic conditions with a temperature of 19° Celcius (66° Fahrenheit). The outlook remains the same for the forseeable future so I think it's time to get the garden hose out and give those flowers a bit of a drink before they start complaining. The minimum temperature tonight will be a not so bad 11°C (52°F) so we can probably survive without any heating again. Today's photo was taken this morning, peeking through the hollyhocks for a view down to Citara Beach in Forio. Back tomorrow, ciao :-)
Hello everyone. It's another lovely day in Ischia and a good bit sunnier than it was yesterday. There's a bit of a breeze around but nothing to trouble any hydrofoil or ferry crossings, a good washing day you might say! The temperature right now at 1:30pm is a healthy, spring-like 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit), and warm enough to be walking around in a t-shirt. The minimum temperature this evening will be 12°C (54°F) and looking at the next week or so we seem to have similar conditions even if tomorrow might be a touch cooler than today. Today's photo comes from Mount Epomeo where if you're very energetic you'd be able to find the pretty, tiny Chiesa di Santa Maria al Monte church which pilgrims visit once a year for the Festa di Santa Maria al Monte. Back tomorrow, ciao :-)
Ciao ragazzi! The pleasant spell of weather in Ischia continues today. It's not actually as bright as it was yesterday, neither sunny nor overcast but something in between that still feels good. Anyway it's good bit warmer and the temperature right now at 3:45pm is 19° Celcius (66° Fahrenheit). It looks as if the little portable heater can now be consigned to an unused corner for the next 8 months or so as last night was the first time this year that it wasn't needed. Tonight's minimum will be 11°C (52°F) which is more or less how it will be every evening this week. Looking ahead at the next 7 days there's no sign of anything other than sunshine and warmth so it's a great time to visit. Today's photo is from the harbour of Ischia Porto, peaceful at dusk. Back tomorrow, ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. Wow what a beautiful day! It's a fantastic start to the week with lots of sunshine and only a very slight breeze. Right now at 1:15pm the temperature is 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit) but that will rise even further as we get through the afternoon with a high of 21°C (70°F) expected. It's even getting warmer in the evenings too with a minimum of 9°C (48°F) predicted for tonight. Looking ahead at the rest of the week it promises to be more of the same and in fact getting gradually nicer right through to the weekend. After yesterday's exciting visit by a couple of friendly leviathans who knows what's in store next on this wondrous little island. On that thought I'll leave you with a nice, sedate photo of San Francesco Beach yesterday afternoon. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona domenica a tutti! (Happy Sunday everyone!) The sunny spring period continues today with another gorgeous afternoon and it's due to get even better. The temperature right now at 1pm is 16° Celcius (61° Fahrenheit) but that's due to increase over the next few hours and we should now be hovering around the 20°C (68°F) mark for the next week or so. The evenings are getting less cold as well now and tonight will see a minimum in double figures for the first time in a long time. We're really starting to see more and more people on the island now with most hotels and restaurants now open for business as well as some of the thermal parks. Today's photo is a beautiful shot of Le Fumarole Beach in Sant'Angelo. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks! It's another typically iconic, early spring day in Ischia. The spell of clear skies and sunshine continues today as it has every day this week and there's yet more still to come. Right now at 4pm it's still nice and warm at 17° Celcius (63° Fahrenheit) which sees a bit of an improvement on yesterday and the early part of this week. It'll be cold again tonight, down to a minimum of 9°C (48°F) but looking ahead for the next couple of weeks there doesn't seem to be much change apart from a slight rise in temperatures at either end of the scale. For today's photo I've chosen La Mortella Gardens in Forio, the wonderful botanical park in the picturesque hamlet of Zaro. If you haven't been yet then it's well worth a visit. That's all from me today, back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Hello everyone. It's a glorious Friday afternoon in Ischia and it's really starting to feel like spring should now. We've got clear blue skies and a very light breeze which all combines nicely to create a warmer atmosphere than we've had for most of this week. It's great to see so many people out and about wearing shorts and t-shirts instead of heavy overcoats for a change too and that's to be expected with the temperature right now at 2pm 16° Celcius (61° Fahrenheit). The minimum for this evening will be 7°C (45°F) but from next week onwards it will be much warmer with 21°C (70°F) expected on Monday. I leave you with a nice, sunny San Francesco Beach in Forio as today's photo and will be back with more tomorrow. Have a great weekend! Ciao :-)
