Afternoon folks. So far today we've had a slightly better day with the weather than yesterday but conditions are still not quite perfect. The sea was a little rough this morning and there's still a significant breeze lurking around. Up above it's been mainly sunny but we did just have a very light shower which stopped yours truly from having to water the plants (every cloud etc) for a while. The temperature right now at 4:30pm is 20° Celsius (68° Fahrenheit) which feels really warm at times but cooler at others when the wind gets up. Looking ahead though we should see a big change from tomorrow when temperatures should rise and an extended spell of sunshine is expected. Today's photo is from the Ipomea Festival at Negombo, Lacco Ameno which continues today. Ciao :-)
Ciao everybody! It's been a bit of a mixed bag with the weather so far today. If I had to mark it out of 10 I'd give it a 6.5 I think. At times it's been really nice and sunny but there have been some cooler, cloudy spells as well as a very light trickle of rain at one point. Right now at 4:45pm it's 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit) and the sun is poking its head out albeit with some stern resistance from the cloud which is quite thick in places. Looking ahead to this evening there are some more intermittent showers expected, possibly becoming heavier by 9 or 10pm. Tomorrow should then see a hangover from that before things clear up nicely in time for the weekend. Tomorrow is also the start of the Ipomea Flower Craft and Food Festival in Lacco Ameno. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. Daring to speak to soon, it looks like we may have seen the worst of the unsettled spell of weather that's held us in its grip for the last couple of weeks. This morning was beautiful right from the word go and since then there's been no change. Right now at 5pm it's a very pleasant 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit) and all very peaceful as I look down from my hillside perch. Ahead of me is the sea where a sail boat looks to be struggling with the lack of wind and apart from the occasional beep of a distant car horn, the most dominant noise is a subtle, tuneful birdsong. Today's photo of Lacco Ameno was taken this morning, it's a great time to visit the town if you're here as they are currently celebrating the Festa di Santa Restituta, their patron saint. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening all! I think I've chosen the perfect moment to write today's update as the sun has finally come out after a thick blanket of cloud held an iron-like grip over proceedings for the whole day. I don't think we're totally out of the woods yet but could this be the beginning of the beginning of the end of this unwelcome spell of unsettled weather? Let's hope so anyway. Right now at 5:15pm it's 20° Celsius (68° Fahrenheit) while the forecast for the rest of the evening is a mixture of sun, cloud and light showers. For anybody who's in Ischia at the moment, there's the Santa Restituta Festival taking place in Lacco Ameno with plenty of people around to enjoy the market stalls, fancy lighting, music and of course, food. That's all from me for today, I'll be back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. Monday comes around once again and I hope it's neither too manic or unlike-able. Here in Ischia the new week has got off to a mixed start, rather encapsulating the weather we've been having of late. Overnight there was some heavy rain which left a damp island for most of the morning but since then we've had a combination of beautiful sunny skies and cool, grey clouds. Right now at 4:30pm it's 20° Celsius (68° Fahrenheit) but perhaps feeling slightly cooler than that with a fairly stiff breeze around. There are still some clouds around which may well produce some more rain this evening but looking ahead, tomorrow should stay dry and bright. Today's photo comes from the magnificent Maronti Beach in Barano and I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona domenica everyone. The roller-coaster weather continues to rise, fall and loop the loop in equal measure. This morning was quite forgettable with lots of rain, heavy at times and thick, grey skies. Fast forward to the afternoon however and there's a significant improvement. Right now at 3:45pm it's 20° Celsius (68° Fahrenheit) with sunny and cloudy spells vying for position. Foolish as it can be to look too far ahead when things are as unsettled as this, we should see a continuation of what we've got for the rest of the evening and although the threat of rain is there for tonight, the showers are expected to be light. For the moment the outlook for next week is quite positive, temperatures are still a little down for the time of year but expected to rise soon. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. Well as predicted it's not been a great day in terms of the weather. Storms raged overnight with some heavy rain at times but by 9am things started to brighten up and dry out a little. However, as the afternoon has progressed the cloud has returned and it's been quite windy too. Those winds have made conditions at sea a little on the rough side but that hasn't stopped a little flotilla of dinghies who are taking the opportunity to fill their sails as they crash over the waves to wherever they're going. Right now at 4:30pm the temperature is 18° Celsius (64° Fahrehnheit) and a little cooler than it should be for the time of year. The immediate outlook for the rest of this evening and tomorrow morning isn't great but let's see how it turns out. A domani. Ciao :-)
Oh my word I've just realised It's Friday the 13th!( a bit late in the day admittedly). Well I hope you're all OK and are steering clear of any sharp or even blunt objects with fingers and toes crossed and perhaps a lucky rabbit's foot nearby just to be sure. We're still in a bit of an unsettled phase with the weather, at one moment the forecasts are all plain sailing then an hour later it's all change again. Today has stayed dry all day and there have been cloudy and sunny spells in equal measure. It's been quite windy too but not enough to stop the hydrofoils running, in fact I saw one charging defiantly across the waves earlier this afternoon. Right now at 6:45pm it's 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit) and fluctuating between cloud and sunshine. Rain and sun are expected tomorrow though. Ciao :-)
Buona sera folks. The weather in Ischia continues to confound and confuse. This morning started off unexpectedly badly with distant rolling thunder, thick cloud and intermittent showers. However, after a few hours of that it suddenly disappeared and left us with a pretty nice day. Right now at 5:30pm it's mostly sunny with a few clouds hanging around but nothing too sinister. The long term outlook seems to be changing on an hourly basis and I really think at this time of year there's little point in looking more than 48 hours ahead. As it stands, this evening should remain as it is and then tomorrow should see very similar conditions with perhaps some slightly stronger winds. Today's photo comes from funky and fun Cava dell'Isola Beach in Forio. Back again tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Good evening folks. So you know yesterday when I said no rain was expected? Yeah well that proved to be wrong I'm afraid, sorry! Not that strictly speaking I should apologise for the weather but I wouldn't want any of you to have got unnecessarily wet. The heaviest rain came very early this morning, completely out of the blue, and brought some pretty hefty winds along with it. Since then it's been almost completely grey for the whole day, occasionally feeling muggy but much cooler at other times. All a bit odd really. Right now at 6pm it's 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit) and my usually colourful horizon is no more than an ashen cloud. The outlook for the next few days is mixed but going no further than tomorrow, it looks like a rainy morning followed by a sunny afternoon. Ciao :-)
