Afternoon folks. Well at the risk of sounding repetitive it's another stunning day here in Ischia. Even forgetting the weather for the moment, just the wondrous smell of the jasmine bushes that are blooming all over the island are enough to make you want to stop where you are and breathe it all in. Then add in the fact that it's a beautiful, warm spring day and the scene is set. Right now at 4:15pm it's 26° Celsius (79° Fahrenheit) which makes it just about the hottest day of the year so far. Looking ahead to tomorrow we may see an occasional build up of cloud but temperatures should stay around what we have today and there's no rain expected. Thursday and Friday should also remain dry while the outlook for next weekend is a little uncertain at this stage. A domani. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. We've got another beautiful day to start the new week with with ideal conditions once again. It really feels like a paradise here at this time of the year when the sun is shining yet still the island is quiet. You can take yourself down to any beach and find you're one of just a handful of visitors and relax in perfect peace. Right now at 4:15pm it's 24° Celsius (75° Fahrenheit) with clear blue skies and hardly a breath of wind. Things are expected to remain this way for the majority of this week with just a hint of a few showers on Thursday morning. Today's photo was taken at Forio harbour this morning and shows the bright spring colours of the purple flowers that grow neatly around the edges of the port. That's all from me for today, back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening folks. The upturn in the weather has continued today with another day of sunshine and warmth. It was a slightly strange start to the day with most of the island's road closed to make way for the competitors of the Ischia 100km cycling race and that caused a few logistical headaches for those travelling to and from Naples. Things are all back to normal now though with most people's afternoon destination being the beach. Another sign of the nice weather is the appearance of ever-larger yachts in the ports and dropping anchor around some of the picturesque bays such as Citara. Right now at 6:30pm it's still sunny with a temperature of 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit) and this fine spell should continue at least for the next couple of days. Back with another update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Hi everyone. Back in the regular post-lunch spot and very happy to report another delicious day of weather in Ischia. With hardly a breath of wind and clear blue skies it's a perfect spring day for anybody who happens to be on the island at this time. Right now at 3:45pm it's 24° Celsius (75° Fahrenheit) and with nothing expected to change for the next week or so the weather is firmly under control. Of more importance right now is the question of transport. Tomorrow sees the annual cycle race around the island called the "Ischia 100km", in which contestants complete 3 circuits of the island. For this reason, all main roads outside of Ischia Porto will be closed to traffic between 8am and 2pm so if you're travelling within those times, drop us a line to ask us what to do. A domani. Ciao :-)
Good evening everyone. Continuing my completely accidental them of television current affairs shows today could be described as "The Late Show" but I can now reveal all weather-wise. Actually today has been possible the nicest day of the year so far, narrowly beating yesterday's wonderful efforts by virtue of having hardly the merest wisp of cloud at any stage. This afternoon it really started to feel hot as well, around the 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit) mark which may not sound that much but in all honesty you don't need it to be much hotter than that, even if you're lazing around on the beach. The weekend is shaping up nicely too with tomorrow expected to be very similar to today and continuing into Sunday. Next week looks even better at this stage. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buongiorno a tutti! It's another early update today, just to keep you all on your toes. Yesterday was a really lovely spring day on the island with plenty of sunshine and just a few clouds towards late afternoon. Today promises more of the same and the sun is already making its way up towards a clear blue sky. The maximum temperature today should reach around 20° Celsius (68° Fahrenheit) with nothing more than some very light winds keeping things under control out at sea. We can expect the same again for tomorrow while at the moment, Saturday looks like it might be a bit cloudy. Today's photo comes from Serrara Fontana, one of the quietest parts of the island but beautiful nonetheless with some great walking routes through vineyards. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Morning everyone. Today's update comes a little earlier than usual just for a change so I can tell you about the day to come rather than the day that was (there's a name of a 1970's current affairs programme just waiting to come out of that last sentence!). Well actually this morning didn't start off so well and continued from where last night left off with some unexpected heavy rain showers but it's never a bad thing if they take place when most people are asleep is it. Right now at 8:30am the sun is out and we're set for a very pleasant day with the maximum temperature expected to be around the 21° Celsius (70° Fahrenheit) mark. Conditions out at sea are absolutely fine too with only very light winds expected and the rest of this week is set fair too. Back again tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. Well after some up and down weather over the last few weeks things seem to be on an upward curve once more. Last night's heavy cloud gave way to a refreshed scene of blue skies and a much calmer sea this morning. It's much warmer than yesterday too and right now at 3:30pm the temperature is 20° Celsius (68° Fahrenheit), enough to force a personal change in clothing from jeans to shorts and hopefully things will remain that way until some time in November (although not wearing the same shorts for that whole time you must understand). Looking ahead, this evening should stay nice with mainly sunny spells and the odd moment or two of cloud. The following week and beyond also look nicely settled with similar conditions to today's. A domani. Ciao :-)
Hello everyone. It's back to work again for most people in Ischia today while many countries including the U.K. are enjoying n elongated weekend. For the second day running the doom-laden weather forecasts were substantially incorrect. Today was supposed to be a complete wash-out but it just never turned out that way and after a few showers in the morning it's been dry ever since. The temperature dropped quite a way this morning but it gradually recovered and right now at 5pm it's 18° Celsius (64° Fahrenheit). Hopefully the forecasters' poor form won't continue as they're currently predicting a nice rest of this week with no rain expected for a while. Today's photo comes from Citara Beach in Forio and that's all from me for today, back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks and into May we go. It's a bank holiday weekend in Italy for and in many other countries across Europe although for many people here it doesn't mean an extra day off as Labour Day has this year fallen on a Sunday. Yesterday the forecast for today looked really bad and it all seemed to be going that way with a fairly gloomy morning with heavy rain and some heavier winds making conditions out at sea rather unpleasant. However, unexpectedly things brightened up this afternoon and right now at 5:15pm it's 18° Celsius (64 Fahrenheit) with sunshine all round and only the wind staying on for an extra shift. Tomorrow is now expected to be the day with more rain and winds in the evening but let's see how it pans out. Back again with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
