Buona sera ragazzi. The weekend is almost upon us and we're lapping up the perfect conditions in Ischia at the moment, ready for a busy couple of days with lots of visitors expected. Right now at 4pm it's 29° Celcius (84° Fahrenheit) and it'll be another one of those evenings where you can stroll around carefree in t-shirt and shorts (if that's your kind of thing), with a minimum of 20°C (68°F). The weather forecast for the next seven days is boring quite frankly, just the same thing every day, sunshine and heat. Today's photo comes from Forio and perfectly sums up what's on display at this time of year with the richly coloured bougainvillea visible in crimson and orange explosions at every turn. I'll be back to update you again tomorrow and I wish you all a great weekend. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. In the words of the Small Faces "it's all too beautiful" here again in Ischia, another absolutely glorious afternoon with the island full of colorful flowers and tints of blue out at sea and in the sky above. Right now at 3:15pm it's 30° Celcius (86° Fahrenheit) and the stiff breeze that we had this morning has gradually fizzled away into the memory. The minimum temperature tonight will be 19°C (66°F) and the next seven days look great with no sign of any rain. Today's photo comes from Lacco Ameno, the smallest of Ischia's 6 main towns ("comune" in Italian) but despite its size it has a little bit of everything with some great shops, restaurants, beaches and Negombo Thermal Gardens all within a short walk. I'll be back tomorrow anyway, ciao :-)
Afternoon all. Well it's a bit of a strange one this storm we're having. Usually storms consist of heavy rain, wind, thunder, lightning and so on but all I can see when I look outside are blue skies and a sea shimmering in the sunlight. We did have some brief rain this morning and a bit of wind but right now at 3:45pm conditions are perfect. The temperature at the moment is 26° Celcius (79° Fahrenheit) and that should drop no lower than 19°C (66°F) tonight. There are some bursts of rain predicted for this evening but I'm not convinced and looking ahead we look set fair for a very positive seven days indeed. Today's image is of the glorious Maronti and Le Fumarole beaches in Barano and Sant'Angelo respectively and I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Ciao amici! Come state? We have another repeat of this strange recent weather phenomenon of beautiful, bright blue skies and sunshine for the morning and afternoon before clouding over again around nowish. Right now at 4pm it's 25° Celcius (77° Fahrenheit) a drop on recent days. In fact the next 24 hours should see a gradual deterioration in conditions and although tonight's minimum will be a healthy 19°C (66°F), there is a storm expected tomorrow night before clearing again on Thursday. Forio continues to celebrate San Vito and the street along La Chiaia Beach was packed last night and will be again tonight for the evening passeggiata. Today's photo comes from the Chiesa di San Gaetano in the town centre and I'll back with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
Afternoon folks, it's another glorious afternoon in Ischia with lots of sunshine, a gentle breeze and a nice calm sea. Right now at 3:15pm it's 29° Celcius (84° Fahrenheit) and tonight's minimum will be around 21°C (70°F). Looking ahead we should see very similar conditions tomorrow but perhaps a slightly disappointing day on Wednesday when the temperature looks set to drop a bit and we're also expecting some rain before things get back to normal by Thursday. Today Forio celebrates its patron saint, San Vito. There are market stalls lining the streets a funfair outside the Chiesa del Soccorso and various small firework displays before the big one on Wednesday night. Today's photo shows what fruit & veg is in season right now and I'll be back with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
Buona sera and buona domenica folks! A later than usual update today, it's been a bit of an up and down day with the weather but the one constant has been the searing heat, up around 30° Celcius (86° Fahrenheit) for most of the day, but with a fairly even mixture of cloudy and sunny spells, coupled with a few light drops of rain. Right now at 7:15pm it's sunny again and still hot, 26°C (79°F) to be precise and it's going to be another warm evening with a minimum of 21°C (70°F) by midnight. Tomorrow and Tuesday look good with perhaps a slight stormy blip on Wednesday and temperatures cooling just a touch too before a brightening up again Thursday. Today's photo comes from the pretty Trattoria Da Peppina di Renato in Forio and I'll be back tomorrow, ciao :-)
Buongiorno a tutti! We've got a repeat of yesterday's conditions in Ischia today. We started out with lots of sunshine but things have clouded over again this afternoon and it's also got quite dark all of a sudden, perhaps a surprise storm could be about to land, who knows but there is at least a good chance of some rain so we'll keep an eye on that. Right now at 4pm it's 28° Celcius (82° Fahrenheit) and tonight will be even warmer than last night with a minimum of 23°C (73°F). Tomorrow looks like it should be bright as a button and then the following days should see a gradual reduction in heat with a possible storm on Wednesday. I'll leave you for today with the magnificent Sant'Angelo seen from high up in Barano and I'll be back with another update tomorrow. Toodle-pip/ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. It's a muggy, humid afternoon in Ischia and although this morning was largely sunny, it has just clouded over a bit, making conditions quite sticky and energy sapping. The temperature right now at 4pm is 27° Celcius (81° Fahrenheit) and tonight will be the hottest we've had so far this year with a minimum of 22°C (72°F). The forecast for the weekend is excellent, plenty of sunshine and heat so I would prescribe a healthy dose of beach, sea, pool and little else for any of you lucky enough to be visiting over the next few days! Continuing with the (actually accidental) Forio theme this week, today's photo is a nice shot of the harbour. Apart from looking pretty it's also useful for hydrofoil crossings to Naples and private boat rentals. A domani, ciao :-)
A very big Thursday buongiorno to everyone! It's another spectacular day on/in Ischia (I'm always torn between "on" and "in" but I think "in" works slightly better), looking directly ahead I've got a lovely view of some red geraniums with a bright blue sea and sky behind them, all accompanied by the twitter of a few birds and the occasional dash of engine power from a distant speed boat which is all obviously very agreeable :-) Right now at 2:15pm it's 30° Celcius (86° Fahrenheit) and we should have a minimum of 19°C (66°F) tonight. The next seven days are all looking very positive too but some time around Wednesday we may see a slight drop in temperature. Today's photo shows just how clean the water is in Ischia so maybe it's time to take a dip! A domani, ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. It's another beautiful afternoon in Ischia, there's not a cloud to be seen and there's nothing to report other than perfect blue skies and warm sun. Right now at 3:30pm it's 28° Celcius (82° Fahrenheit) with another warm night in store, a minimum temperature of 21°C (70°F). There is a slight breeze but looking out to sea all you can see are little shards of light glittering around on the surface. Lovely. Looking ahead at the next seven days it's a case of more of the same with the next three days in particular set to be even hotter. As today marks the beginning of the Festa di San Vito (the patron saint of Forio), what better way to mark the occasion than by sharing one of the town's main jewels, Cava dell'Isola Beach. I'll be back with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
