Afternoon everyone, the weekend is just about upon us so it's time to down tools and do whatever it is you do to wind down between now and Monday. It's been another typically hit summer's day even if right now at 5:15pm it's ever so slightly clouded over but the temperature remains high at 31° Celcius (88° Fahrenheit). Tonight will be extremely hot with the minimum temperature expected to be as much as 27°C (81°F) and as we move into next week we should also see some even hotter afternoons. The antidote (or the complement depending on which way you look at it) to the heat is a big juicy melon and anyone heading to the beach will find them readily available from various stalls and vendors. I'm off to cool down a bit and will return as ever tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera everybody and welcome back to the hot and steamy Ischia and I don't mean that in any kind of Mills and Boon way, it's simply hot and there actually is steam coming out of the island (see Sorgeto and The Fumaroles of Sant'Angelo for confirmation!). Right now at 4:15pm it's an energy evaporating 31° Celcius (88° Fahrenheit) and we're in for a balmy, hot summer evening with a minimum of 24°C (75°F). Looking ahead at the next week or so things remain stable with no rain expected even if by now it surely wouldn't be such a bad thing for the gardens which are being rather scorched at the moment. Today's photo is a peaceful shot of Sant'Angelo and I'll rouse myself again around this time tomorrow for another little update. Enjoy your evenings. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone! We're just about at that point of the day where the sun starts casting shadows and creates a huge, silvery-gold triangle on the surface of the sea. The fantastic weather has continued today which again has been devilishly hot and right now at 5:45pm it's 31° Celcius (88° Fahrenheit). It promises to be another one of those nights where you could quite happily go and sit on the beach with just a T-shirt on until whatever time you like with the temperature never dropping below 24°C (75°F). There's no sign on the Ischia Review radar (a fictional radar) of anything untoward for the coming week but stick with our daily update to be 100% sure. Today's photo is the imperious, mesmerising bay of La Scannella in Panza and I'm off to cool down until tomorrow, ciao :-)
Buongiorno/buona sera everyone! It's been a strangely cloudy, muggy and humid day so far that's been getting gradually brighter. Looking out to sea I can see a small number of boats dotted around in Citara Bay, nothing like the armada we had at the weekend and a sign that things are generally calmer during midweek. Right now at 3pm it's 31° Celcius (88° Fahrenheit) and another sticky evening lies ahead with a minimum 24°C (75°F) expected. This cloudy, sunny thing should stay around for the rest of today but don't let up on the sunscreen as these are the most dangerous conditions of all! Today's photo comes from Casamicciola, Pulcinella preaching a little Ischia rhyme written on the ape truck. Can any of you tell us what it means? Back with more tomorrow ciao :-)
Afternoon folks! The working week begins with another sweltering day in Ischia. Right now at 4:15pm it's 32° Celcius (90° Fahrenheit), sunny and with just a gentle breeze to provide occasional respite from the blazing hot sun. This evening's minimum will be around 23°C (73° F) and looking ahead for the next seven days at least there's no change to these conditions expected. Today's photo comes from a lovely corner of the island where you can find one of the best viewing areas for Castello Aragonese in Ischia Ponte. If you follow the road past Michelangelo's Tower you reach a dead end where you'll find a collection of 3 hotels and just in front of these hotels you can enjoy the marvellous vista of the castle on one side and Capri on the other. I'll be back again tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona domenica a tutti! I hope you're all enjoying a nice, relaxing Sunday. Relaxation is certainly the aim of the day in Ischia and it's not something that's difficult to achieve with the weather as it is. Right now at 4:15pm it's a scorching 33° Celcius (91° Fahrenheit) and the lovely warm evening air will again be a feature tonight with a minimum of 22°C (72°F). Anybody visiting Ischia in the next week will be pleased to hear that these conditions will remain in place for the foreseeable future and we're expecting things to get even hotter by next weekend. Today's photo comes from the stunningly azure blue coloured Maronti Beach in Barano. The shades and patterns of this beautiful canvas change with every visit. Ok I'm off for a dip and I'll be back and refreshed tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Good evening/buona sera everybody. Wow it's hot out there! In fact it's been really hot since early this morning and even though we're passed the very hottest part of the day, right now at 5:30pm the mercury is showing a whopping 34° Celcius (93° Fahrenheit). The temperature at 2am last night was what you'd expect on a warm spring afternoon and we're expecting a repeat of that tonight with a minimum of 24°C (75°F). The situation for the next seven days remains as it was, a continuation of these conditions and these temperatures. To cool things down slightly I've chosen a shot of Forio harbour at sunset for today's photo and after all that effort I think I need to go for a lie down! Back with another update from Ischia tomorrow. Buon weekend. Ciao :-)
Hello everyone! Is the weekend here yet? I think it is and you all have my permission to go home early unless you already have of course. It's really really hot in Ischia today, even riding around on the scooter which normally has a significant cooling effect, the air is thick with heat. Right now at 4:30pm it's 32° Celcius (90° Fahrenheit) and tonight's minimum temperature will set a new benchmark for this year at 24°C (75°F). There is no change to these conditions for the foreseeable future so pack light if you're visiting any time soon. Today's photo comes from that lovely little corner of Ischia, the bay around Le Fumarole Beach which can be reached along a scenic path from the village of Sant'Angelo and well worth the effort of the small hill. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. We've got another scorcher in Ischia today. It's that middle period of the day when the island goes very quiet with people taking a break from work generally speaking between 1:30pm and 4pm leaving the road mostly deserted before springing back to life as the hum of scooter and car combine to herald the beginning of the evening session. Right now at 4:15pm it's 31° Celcius (88° Fahrenheit) and this evening's minimum will be around 21°C (70°F). Looking ahead at the rest of the week it's still great news for anyone visiting with conditions nice and settled and no sign of anything untoward on the horizon. Today's photo comes from the beautiful La Scarrupata in Barano, a great place to stop with a boat for a swim and a bite to eat. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera a tutti! July has arrived with another scintillating afternoon in Ischia. Skies are blue, the sea is calm and with the slight midweek lull it's all nice and quiet with plenty of space around to go and enjoy the beaches and thermal parks. Right now at 5:45pm it's 32° Celcius (90° Fahrenheit), feeling perhaps hotter still with hardly a breath of wind to speak of. Tonight's minimum will be a warm 22°C (72°F) and there's nothing on the forecast map for the next seven days apart from blistering orange orbs. It is our aim to share the sights, sounds and quirks of Ischia so every now and then I chuck in a funky vehicle such as this beautiful bright pink Fiat 500 seen on the streets of Lacco Ameno yesterday. That's all for today anyway but I'll be back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
