Evening all. It's been a busy start to the week in Ischia as we're now really right in the middle of the busiest part of the year. Anyone planning a visit soon will be very pleased to hear the weather continues to be spectacular and today we've just left off from where we've been over the last couple of weeks. Even now at 7:30pm it's still 29° Celsius (84° Fahrenheit) and there's still no reason to expect it to change any time soon. Today's photo comes from one of the most popular areas on the island for beach-goers, Citara Bay in Forio. It's situated around a 25 minute walk from the town centre and boasts one of the largest beaches on the island. It has its own collection of beach bars and restaurants as well as being home to the famous Poseidon Thermal Gardens. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks and welcome back to the sunshine of Ischia that shows no signs of letting up. Again there's not a cloud to be seen and with hardly any wind around it's feeling really hot. Right now at 5pm it's 29° Celsius (84° Fahrenheit) and the situation remains stable for the following week. If anything the only change we might see is the temperature going up a degree or two but after a certain point you can hardly tell the difference, can you (semi-rhetorical)? Today's photo was taken this morning down in Lacco Ameno, the combination of the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest along with it being a Sunday meant there were lots of people around, especially on the beaches, while others attended to the task of making their fishing nets ready for the next catch. Back again tomorrow, ciao :-)
Buon sera everyone. We're almost at the end of another superb, hot day in Ischia as this magnificent spell of weather continues. Right now at 7:30pm it's 28° Celsius (82° Fahrenheit) and we're just over an hour away (8:36pm to be precise) from sunset. In terms of the weather there's nothing but good news, tomorrow should see a repeat of today and aside from a small fluctuation in maximum temperatures we shouldn't see too much of a change for the next 7 days. It's an exciting time of the year in Ischia as the second annual film festival gets under way. The Ischia Global Film & Music Fest follows on from the Ischia Film Festival that finished last week so watch out for free movie screenings and the chance to spot an A-list celebrity or two. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening folks. Who would have thought the weekend would come around so quickly? Well it's here now so I hope you're ready and we're off to a cracking start in Ischia as the heatwave continues unabated. Right now at 6pm it's 28° Celsius (82° Fahrenhetit) and there's no change expected in the current conditions in the near future. Today's photo comes from a beautiful shop called "Serpico" in Forio town centre. It sits along the main thoroughfare which is a great place to be in the evenings. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around and at this time of year there's a real buzz with lots of visitors. Forio's nightlife is split into two main areas, the one that I just mentioned as well as the port area where you'll find more activity and people enjoying the laid back atmosphere. Ciao :-)
Hi everyone. The beautiful summer season continues with another sweltering day in Ischia. Apart from the beautiful weather, excitement is building as we approach the beginning of the Ischia Global Film & Music on Saturday 9th July. On a dazzling list of stars who will be making an appearance during the week-long festival are the likes of Danny De Vito, Jeremy Irons and Tim Robbins from the world of film with Dionne Warwick and Italy's own "Zucchero", to name just two stars from the music industry. Throughout the week of the festival there'll be a series of film screenings taking place in Lacco Ameno, Ischia Porto and Forio so keep an eye out for those. Right now at 4:15pm it's 29° Celsius (84° Fahrenheit), hot and sunny, as it will be tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon all and welcome back to Ischia where we've got another gorgeous day to enjoy. The skies are cloudless, the sea is calm and in terms of heat it's somewhere between a Jalfrezi and a Madras but over the next few days we should be in Vindaloo country. Right now at 4:30pm it's 28° Celsius (82° Fahrenheit) with the customary light breeze helping to cool the palate. Today's photo comes from the island of Ventotene which is situated to the west of Ischia and takes an hour to reach by hydrofoil. The direct connection between the two islands is only available during peak season but it's a lovely place to visit if you're looking to try somewhere new. It's much smaller than Ischia but does have a couple of beaches, a quaint old town and some charming places to eat and drink. A domani, ciao :-)
Evening folks and what a beautiful evening it is too. It's been another scorching day on the island with temperatures in excess of 30°C but right now with the sun lowering it's starting to cool down a little bit. Right now at 7:1pm it's 27° Celsius (81° Fahrenheit) and there's a lovely breeze wafting across from the sea. Up above there's not a cloud to be seen and with nothing untoward on the horizon we're really in for a great period of weather now and for the rest of the summer. One thing I should point out to anybody here now or planning a trip soon is that we've updated our Boat Trips from Ischia section and you'll now find some new excursions available including day trips to Pompeii, Ponza and Ventotene which I'll show you a photo of tomorrow. Until then, ciao :-)
Morning all! Welcome to the new week and quite a week it's shaping up to be as well! Although we're not quite at the highest peak of the summer season (an accolade that's always won bu the middle two weeks of August), there has been a very noticeable shift in the number of visitors to the island. As I mentioned in my previous update, we're at a phase of the year where there's very little to say about the weather, a cursory glance at any long range forecast will show you a long line of hot suns and today is just one of those perfect summer days that we can expect a lot more of over the next few months. Right now at 10:45am things are still warming up with a temperature of 25° Celsius (77° Fahrenheit) but by mid-afternoon we'll be up to 30°C (86°F) again. Ciao :-)
Buona sera ragazzi. We've reached a phase of the year where there's really not much to say about the weather other than that it's hot and sunny! Right now at 4:45pm it's 28° Celsius (82° Fahrenheit) and aside from a little upward fluctuation in the temperatures we should be set fair for the foreseeable future now. With an absence of meteorological matters to discuss I will instead turn my attention towards what's going on in terms of events on the island. Today is the last day of the Ischia Film Festival which has been taking place at Castello Aragonese in Ischia Ponte, the first of two international film festivals that take place here every year. Next week will see the higher profile Ischia Global Film & Music Fest with plenty of stars expected to attend. A domani. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. It's that calendar flipping time again as we say arrivederci to June and buongiorno to July. It's very much a typical July day as well, steamingly hot and sunny and at this time of day the only place to be is on the beach or beside the pool. Right now at 4pm it's 28° Celsius (82° Fahrenheit) and we're just coming towards the end of the sleepy afternoon spell before the island lurches back into life. It's around about this time on a Friday that you start to see private boats and yachts sliding into position to grab the best spots around the beaches such as Citara and Maronti in particular and just as I write this I can see the first one moving into place. It's going to be even hotter tomorrow and for the week that follows with sunshine all the way. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
