Ciao ragazzi! It's just past sunset here in Ischia and after a beautiful, sunny day we've got one of the most spectacular sunsets I can remember which you can see in today's photo which is fresh out of the camera in the last few minutes. This afternoon was quite windy and the sea a little bit on the rough side as a result but conditions were warm with plenty of sunshine around. Right now at 8:30pm it's 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit) but this afternoon was around the mid twenties (C). Tomorrow is shaping up to be a bit cooler than today and with quite a bit of cloud around too but the good news is that the rest of the week looks to be much better. Don't forget the Festival dei Popoli del Mediterraneo tomorrow night in Ischia Ponte and I'll be back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening everyone. It's been a super busy day here at Ischia Review hence the late update. We've had a positive yet mixed day with some cloud this morning followed by bright sunshine and warmth for the most part and temperatures up in the mid twenties (Celcius). However it's also the coldest evening I can remember for a long time and the first time I've had the door shut while writing the update! Right now at 9:15pm it's 17° Celcius (62° Fahrenheit) and feeling decidedly chilly outside. Looking ahead, another nice day beckons tomorrow and whilst the week beyond looks very promising, there does appear to be one cloudy blip on the horizon for Wednesday. Today's photo comes from the beautiful La Scannella Bay in Panza and I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone from a cloudy Ischia where the disappointing weekend weather continues into a third day. There hasn't been any rain yet and the wind has dropped since yesterday but the sea has been quite choppy and the temperatures have also been down compared to the average for this time of year. Right now at 5:30pm it's 22° Celcius (72° Fahrenheit) although feeling warmer and still quite humid with the absence of any wind. There will be an improvement as we get into Monday and Tuesday before perhaps turning cloudy again towards the middle of next week. Later today Silvana's blog has some news about an important event in Ischia tomorrow and today's photo comes from Lacco Ameno. Have a happy Sunday wherever you are and I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening everyone. We're getting towards the end of a pretty forgettable day in terms of the weather. It's been mostly windy and cloudy with just the very occasional spell of sunshine here and there. It's been much cooler than what we've been used to as well and right now at 8pm it's 21° Celcius (70° Fahrenheit) although it was warmer and more humid this afternoon. There's still a bit of dampness in the air and the threat of some showers too but the outlook for tomorrow is more positive with the wind dying away and expected to leave a mainly sunny day. The early part of next week also looks quite settled before some mixed conditions in the days that follow. Today's photo comes from a windy Sant'Angelo and I'll be back with another update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera folks. Today's update once again comes after dark on a day that's seen a bit of a change in the weather. This morning and afternoon were nice and sunny but things turned a bit nasty around 4pm with some heavy rumblings followed by heavy thunder, lightning and of course, rain. That storm lasted for about half an hour or so but appears to have finished now.. Despite feeling quite humid the temperature has dropped a bit, down to 21° Celcius (70° Fahrenheit) while tomorrow also looks like it might be unsettled with some clouds in the morning followed by the chance of showers in the afternoon. Tonight sees the Swordfish (pesce spada) Sagra in Lacco Ameno and today's photo is from Cava Grado Beach in Sant'Angelo. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening everybody. Darkness has fallen over Ischia and the natural beauty and colour provided by the sunshine has been replaced by a wondrous, star-lit night-time. We've had pretty much unbroken sunshine all day and once again it's been hot and remains so even now. With the time showing 8:45pm it's 28° Celcius (82° Fahrenheit) and tomorrow should see something similar again. However there does look to be a storm or two on the way on Saturday which should hopefully be just a blip before clearing up again on Sunday. Today's photo comes from Sorgeto Hot Springs where the water is hot all year round but with the caveat that it's best to avoid when the sea is rough as al the cold waves mix in with the nice stuff. Back with more tomorrow anyway. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. It's been another beautiful day in Ischia, mostly sunny, a touch hotter than yesterday too and right now at 6:30pm it's 30° Celcius (86° Fahrenheit). Tonight's minimum should be around 24°C (75°F) and looking ahead, things are looking very positive for at least the next 24 hours or so. Friday could see a brief shower and some cloudy spells too before conditions brighten up again in time for the weekend. There's quite a lot going on in Lacco Ameno over the next few days in terms of musical events so check out Silvana's blog for a full run through of that. Today's photo comes from Sant'Angelo where you can take a water taxi across the bay to Maronti Beach or to Sorgeto Hot Springs in the other direction. Back with another update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera everyone. Perhaps I oversold the "Ischia isn't busy in September" thing as we've actually got considerably busier today! Rather than any dramatic drop in numbers of visitors in fact the reality is that there are still lots of people around but perhaps just a slight change in the percentage of "stranieri" (foreigners) with a large chunk of Italians having left. Right now it's night time, 8:45pm to be precise and the temperature is 25° Celcius (77° Fahrenheit) although it was considerably hotter this afternoon, up around 30°C (86°F). There might be some cloudy spells over the next few days and perhaps a chance of a shower on Saturday but for the most part it should stay dry and sunny. Today's photo shows a touch of luxury in Sant'Angelo and I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening everyone. It's been another energy-sapping, sticky, balmy and frankly, hot day in Ischia on the last day of the month. The general vibe around the island goes through an etch-a-sketch like reset with the buzzing, bustling, noisy August replaced by a much more sedate September. The sun's just gone down and right now at 7:45pm it's 28° Celcius (82° Fahrenheit) with conditions set to stay exactly this way for the next 48 hours or so. Things will cool down a touch by Thursday but then get hotter again in time for the weekend but this is all relatively speaking of course, a couple of degrees here and there. Keep an eye out later as we reveal September's events but for now I'll leave you with the sunset over Forio and the promise to return with an update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
