Evening all! The weekend is coming to a close with time flying by faster than the legendary green flash ("raggio verde") that can sometimes be seen for the briefest of moments on the Forio horizon just after sunset. So fast in fact that I even missed yesterday's update so for those that like to keep abreast of such things I can confirm that we had a fairly mild day, mostly sunny and dry as far as I can remember (after one whole sleep things become a little fuzzy). Today started off very well with plenty of sunshine around this morning and afternoon while right now at 8pm it's a very pleasant 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit). Things are on the turn a little however with a storm expected tomorrow morning and staying damp until Tuesday evening. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera everyone. How are you all and what's the weather like where you are? Here it's been a much improved day today with lots more sunshine than we've had of late and it's also stayed dry all day. The wind has dropped significantly too but conversely, the lack of cloud cover has actually made things a bit cooler and right now at 8:45pm it's feeling ever so slightly chilly at 16° Celcius (61° Fahrenheit). The weekend looks set to kick off tomorrow morning with some showers which could stick around until early evening before clearing again for a pleasant looking Sunday. This unsettled spell will probably continue into early next week with the possibility of a storm on Monday. Today's photo comes from Ischia Ponte and I'll be back with another update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening folks. Just as I finished criticising last night's storm for being a bit weak, it woke up and started raging with winds battering anything its path and a good bit of rain too. Today has been milder by comparison and probably the best word to describe the weather at the moment is unpredictable, you just never really know if it's going to be sunny and warm or cold and damp (or even sunny and damp!) thus creating difficult clothing decisions for those of us who use two wheels to get around on. Right now at 7:30pm it's dry, 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit) and tomorrow should be decisively nicer with sunshine on the way. Today's photo comes from Monte Cotto in Barano, a short walk with spectacular views that we recently added to the site. Back again tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera a tutti! It's another late update on another strange weather day in Ischia. The forecasts were for storms with heavy winds and showers but it really hasn't been as bad as expected and if this was what you call a storm then it wouldn't win any prizes (assuming there are storm competitions in the first place). It's actually a bit warmer than yesterday too and right now at 9:45pm it's 22° Celcius (72° Fahrenheit). The predictions for tomorrow are as exactly as they were for today but with things gradually starting to brighten up on Friday and lots of sunshine expected right through the weekend. Today's photo comes from Chiaia Beach in Forio where you'll gradually see fewer people each day at this time of year. I'll be back with another update tomorrow anyway. Ciao :-)
Evening folks. Today's update comes as the day has almost finished but for the record (and I am actually keeping a record, such a nerd I know!), it's been a funny old day, dominated by cloud, a few showers and most recently by the wind which has been getting up over the last few hours and will likely develop into a storm that will last for the next couple of days. Strangely though it's not that cold and even now at 10:30pm I'm sitting here with the front door open with a temperature of 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit). As mentioned above, the next two days could be a bit of a washout before things clear up a bit in time for the weekend. To add a little splash of colour to today's otherwise grey proceedings I've chosen this ceramic map of Ischia as today's photo. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Ciao ragazzi! It's been back to the Ischia that we know and love today with lots of warm sunshine and yesterday's wind gone and forgotten. Temperatures have been much higher too, up to around 25° Celcius (77° Fahrenheit) at times this afternoon. Right now at 8:30pm things have cooled down somewhat to 19°C (66°F) but it's still dry and we have a fair few stars to gaze at (I haven't counted them). Tomorrow morning should continue to be bright but we're preparing for a second wave of storms and by the afternoon the wind will be up again and there will also be some showers. As for Wednesday and Thursday, it's probably best to just not talk about them and think about how nice Friday will be! Today's photo comes from the port in Ischia Porto and I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening everyone. It's been a sumptuous day in Ischia. It hasn't been particularly warm and there have been some really strong winds but even after three years of making my way around the island I don't think I've ever seen it looking prettier. Having decided to take in a new hiking route we came across the stunning scene that you can see in today's photo, looking across from Monte Cotto in Barano down to Sant'Angelo. We also managed to find a restaurant which can only be accessed by mono-rail and comes with an even more spectacular view with Castello Aragonese, Ischia Porto, Procida, Capri and Sorrento all visible together. Right now at 7:30pm it's 19° Celcius (66° Fahrenheit) and tomorrow is looking good, sunny and warmer too. A domani. Ciao :-)
Here's a list of words to describe today's weather: wet, rainy, damp, gloomy, grey, unpleasant. The list could go on but I guess by now you've got the picture! It hasn't stopped raining all day, it's just been varying levels of showers from very light to torrential. We've had thunder and its partner in crime, lightning while strangely enough right now somebody has seen fit to add to the atmosphere by letting off a series of very loud fireworks. The time now is 9pm and the temperature is 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit) but a change (albeit brief) is on the way! Tomorrow morning should see a mixture of sunshine and showers before staying dry for the afternoon and into Monday. Today's photo comes from Olympus Thermal Park in Barano and I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera everyone. As was forecast yesterday things have turned a bit grey, damp and chilly here in Ischia. For most of the morning and afternoon there was heavy cloud cover with just a few spots of rain but the showers have now become heavier and more prolonged. With the downpour the temperature has also dropped and right now at 9pm it's 17° Celcius (63° Fahrenheit). The picture for tomorrow is not particularly pleasant either with heavy wind and storms expected to last the whole day and into Sunday morning as well. Things should brighten up by Sunday afternoon with a sunny Monday predicted to follow before turning damp again on Tuesday. I'll leave you with a photo of Maronti Beach that was taken this very evening and I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening all. We've had a beautiful, sunny day in Ischia although I'm having to rely on eye-witnesses to tell me that as I've been away for most of the day. Today's photo might be a bit of a give away as to my location but a chance to visit the ruins of Pompeii was too good to turn down. Back in Ischia it's a lovely, warm evening with the temperature right now at 8:15pm 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit). Looking ahead, we should have a mix of sunshine and cloud tomorrow morning before some rain moves in for the afternoon and evening, Friday's showers will turn into Saturday's storm with some thunder and lightning expected before clearing for a pleasant afternoon and evening on Sunday. The following week looks a bit unsettled but I'll update on that and more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
