The city of Salerno has become an ever-increasingly important travel hub for the south of Italy in recent years.
For many years it benefitted from both a ferry port and a train station that forms part of the Italian high-speed rail network but in 2024 its airport re-opened to international flights after a long period of closure. Salerno is situated at the eastern edge of the Amalfi Coast, close to the town of Vietri sul Mare and within a short drive of the coast's major towns of Ravello, Amalfi and Positano. During the summer it can be reached directly by ferry from Ischia. |
