Buona sera folks. It's that happy time of the week when those of you with tools in hand can safely down them for a couple of days R&R. It's been a great start to the weekend in Ischia, even if it wasn't a great start to the day itself. This morning there were some clouds around along with a bit of a breeze but things have slowly but surely improved as the day has worn on. Right now at 6pm it's 26° Celsius (79° Fahrenheit), a little jump in what it's been for the last couple of weeks, and right now conditions are ideal without a cloud to be seen. Looking at the various forecasts, tomorrow looks like it should be nice all day while the picture for Sunday is a little less certain with an outside chance of a shower or two in the morning. I'll be back with more tomorrow anyway. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. It's been a bit of a mixed day so far in Ischia but significantly better than the forecasts suggested it might be. There were various predictions of thunderstorms and heavy rain but we've had nothing more than a cloudy morning without any downpours. Right now at 2pm it's 23° Celsius (73° Fahrenheit) and for the first time today we're enjoying a sustained spell of sunshine with the cloud becoming less and less prominent. The general outlook for the next week or so is very positive with plenty of sun around and just the occasional spell of cloud or isolated showers. Today's photo shows Cava dell'Isola Beach, one of four great beaches in the town of Forio. This one is a particular favourite with the young locals and it's completely free! Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks and welcome back to my little daily update on all things Ischia, (well not all things, weather things and selected other things at least). On that main subject things are in perfectly fine fettle on the weather front at the moment and have been all day. Right now at 5:30pm it's 24° Celsius (75° Fahrenheit) on a sunny, sultry Wednesday with just a very light breeze. If you're in the right place that breeze will carry the occasional waft of sweet-scented jasmine bushes which can be found all over the island and if you stop to listen for a moment you'll probably hear a combination of gentle waves and gentler birdsong. Looking ahead there's a chance of some temporary disturbance to this peaceful scene with some showers tomorrow but let's wait and see as always. Ciao :-)
Buona sera everyone. It's been a busy old Tuesday here at the Ischia Review control tower (ok so perhaps tower is a slight exaggeration, arguably as is the word "control"!) but it just wouldn't be a normal day without providing my own personal judgement on the current weather situation. As you would hope and expect at this time of year it's been hot and sunny, up around the 24° Celsius (75° Fahrenheit) mark earlier on. Right now at 7pm things have clouded over a little bit and although that may remain the case for the next couple of hours we're expecting a clear night followed by another great day tomorrow. The local rag's storm prediction from yesterday proved to be way wide of the mark as well I'm pleased to add. Back with more weather tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Hi everyone. It's the beginning of a new week in Ischia and we're off to a fantastic start. Over in Forio on the west coast of the island it can sometimes start off a little cooler than on the opposite side due to the gigantic presence of Mount Epomeo but when it starts off hot straight away in Forio then you know it's only going to get hotter. Right now at 4:30pm it's 24° Celsius, sunny and without a cloud to be seen. There's also a nice breeze to complement the sunshine making it a perfect day for sunbathing. Looking ahead at tomorrow and the rest of the week I'm 99% certain it's going to be mostly like today. However, a slightly random report has just appeared on the local rag here saying there's going to be a storm tomorrow. Let's hope they're wrong! Back again tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Good afternoon everyone and Buona Domenica a tutti. After a bit of a slow start to the day the sun finally got itself going shortly after breakfast time and since then it's been pretty much a perfect day on the weather front. Of course being the weekend and a bank holiday one at that (from Thursday's Festa della Reppublica) it's busy on the island with most people heading to the beaches and that includes the locals, may of whom have just this one day off each week. Right now at 4:30pm it's a very healthy 24° Celsius (75° Fahrenheit) and feeling quite hot under the sun with hardly any breeze to speak of. It looks like tomorrow might be a touch hotter still and there's nothing untoward expected for the next seven days or so. I'll be back with another weather update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buon pomeriggio a tutti. It's a beautiful afternoon in Ischia, the sea is sparkling under the sunshine, the air is warm and it's the weekend, what more could you want? Right now at 3:30pm it's 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit) and there's little more to add in terms of the weather as we look set fair for much more of the same for the week to come. As summer time arrives we start to see more and more events taking place on the island and tomorrow is one such occasion, La Festa della Ginestra which takes place in Barano, Starting in the village of Buonopane at 10:45am, a crowd gathers and then walks together across some beautiful scenery, finally ending up at a barbecue with music and drinks. Today's photo shows part of the route so for more info feel free to ask us. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. The working week is almost over and it promises to be a very busy few days with all of the long-weekenders taking advantage of yesterday's national holiday. First thing this morning it wasn't great holiday weather as the rain lashed down but by the time most people started to surface for their breakfasts things cleared up to leave a beautiful, sunny day with lots of fresh spring air. Right now at 5:45pm it's 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit) and conditions are ideal, my current view being dominated by a rather elegant-looking sailboat that's moved into position A for the weekend. The forecasts are all looking very good too with nothing but sunshine on the horizon for the next 7 days. I'll be back with another update tomorrow so enjoy the sun if you're here. Ciao :-)
Buona sera everyone. It's busy busy busy in Ischia today which is a national holiday for the Festa della Repubblica. With thousands of people descending on the island for a long weekend in addition to those that were already here it's made things a little livelier than usual. For example you can usually get a ferry or hydrofoil ticket just by turning up at the ticket office in Naples but we've heard from several travellers who were unable to do so this morning. If you're planning a trip soon and in any doubt about what arrangements to make just drop us a line and we'll be happy to help. Weather-wise it's been a mixed bag so far, spectacular at times and a bit average at others. The temperature right now is 21° Celsius (70° Fahrenheit) but tomorrow should be great. A domani. Ciao :-)
Afternoon chaps and chapesses! So into June we go and things are noticeably busier on the island already. Tomorrow is an important day on the calendar, "La Festa della Repubblica" which apart from anything else is a day off for most Italians and a good chunk of those decide to spend an extended weekend in Ischia (and who can blame them!). In terms of the weather we had a bit of a slow start to the day with lots of cloud around this morning and a couple of drops of light rain as well. Then as we moved into the afternoon it's become progressively sunnier with just the occasional spell of cloud cover. Right now at 5pm it's 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit) and very pleasant with a bit of breeze around as well. Tomorrow is expected to be a very similar day to today. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
