Tonight, Saturday 7th November, the Blue Gospel Singers will perform live at the Ecstasy club in Ischia Porto, starting at 23:00. A concert of gospel and spiritual music not to be missed!

Ischia Wind Art 

“Ischia Wind Art” is an international kite festival taking place in Ischia on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October at Maronti beach in Barano.

Saturday 3rd October 2015

From 13:30 to 16:00 – “The free flight”​,​ kites from artists ​from all over the world flying together in the sky over Maronti beach.

From 16:00 to 17:30 - "Porta il tuo aquilone e fallo volare" (Take your kite with you and make it fly) free exhibition of kites.

From 19:30 - "Sagra delle alici" (Anchovy festival), tasting of typical local food and drink products in Piazza Maronti. Food plus art & craft market.

From 21:30 - to 23:55 - Folk dancing and music show performed by the group “Scuola del Folkore”

“La passeggiata vespertina di Re Ferdinando” (the walk at sundown of King Ferdinand)

The walk at sundown of King Ferdinand II of Bourbon. Representation in old costumes of the traditional evening walk of the Bourbon king and queen from the Royal Palace along the streets of Ischia Porto. The port will be set up with small workshops showing traditional Ischian occupations. Local restaurants along la “Riva Destra”  will offer the “menù del buon pescato”  a set price for a complete fish meal. The evening will end with a live music concert of Italian singers.

La Festa del Buon Pescato (The Festival of Good Fishing)

The “Festa del Buon Pescato” which runs from the 10th September to the 3rd October 2015 is an event aimed at commemorating the ancient fishing traditions of Ischia. Several events will be organized all around the island with the purpose of celebrating the sea, the most Important resource of the island for thousands of years.

The festival starts on Thursday 10th September at 18:30 in Ischia Porto with an interesting and evocative representation of the traditional fishing hunt in the port of Ischia, with a parade of ancient boats and actors dressed in historical costumes from the Bourbon era.

The port of Ischia was originally a volcanic lake before being turned into a natural port in 1854 by King Ferdinand II of Bourbon.

The evening unfolds with the tasting of different types of fish as well as video displays, live music and fireworks.

If arriving at or leaving from Ischia Porto tomorrow, please check your travel plans with the service providers for the crossings as well as for buses around Ischia. Another interesting 3 day festival in Ischia, “Il Festival del Popoli del Mediterraneo” (The Festival of the Mediterranean People) takes place in Ischia from the 7th to the 9th September 2015.

The most significant event of the festival is the live representation of a night assault by pirates (the so-called Saracens, arriving from the north coast of Africa ) to the island, performed at Marina della Mandra on Spiaggia dei Pescatori (Fisherman's Beach) between Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte.

The Saracen raids, with kidnappings, murders and robberies,  occurred for many centuries on the island from the 6th century A.D. and continued for almost a thousand years, leaving the inhabitants of Ischia in a constant sense of fear.  

The play, organized and performed by local residents of the little fishing village of La Mandra, is a well made representation of an important part of the history of Ischia.

And from the 6th to the 18th September a piano will be available to play for free in Corso Angelo Rizzoli for whoever wishes to play for fun or entertain the passers by!

​Celebrations dedicated to San Giovan Giuseppe della Croce, the saint born in Ischia in 1654, patron saint and protector of Ischia, are taking place on the island this week. Tonight, Friday 28th August 2015, a live representation of the life of the saint will be played out along the streets of Ischia Ponte with the participants wearing custumes depicting the era. The event starts at 21:00 and there will of course be plenty of local food and wine available too.

​Tomorrow, Saturday 29th August 2015​ the traditional folk dance 'Ndrezzata will be performed in Buonopane at the sagra "Buonopane in Festa". The event will feature live music, folk dancing, comedians and delicious local  food such as pasta with beans, the traditional Ischian rabbit dish "Coniglio Ischitano", sausages, salad "cafona", fried "zeppole" (doughnuts), and lots more wine! This one also starts at 21:00 and the village is best reached by bus or car if you have one.
