SUCCHIVO
Latest update: 4 May 2022
Succhivo is a very small village or hamlet that lies between the villages of Panza and Sant'Angelo on the south coast of Ischia.
It's a very sleepy, quiet place but does have some useful facilties such as hotels (Albergo Villa Mario, Hotel Lumihe, Villa Le Tre Sorelle, Hotel Margherita and Hotel Casa Giuseppina), a couple of snack bars (Caffe Champagne and Ali Baba), tennis courts, a public car park, a petrol station and a children's playground in the village centre. One charming feature of the village are the little novelty touches you'll find around its centre such as the painted tyres and colourful flowerpots with their amusing slogans. |
The village centre is completed by the tiny church, the Chiesetta Santa Maria di Montevergine which is located on a side street, almost out of view
Most people's first view of Succhivo is when they pass through it on their way to Sant'Angelo which is much more popular by comparison but Succhivo offers benefits in terms of slightly cheaper accommodation and the ability to walk to the beach of Cava Grado which takes around 15-20 minutes from the village centre.
How to get to Succhivo
You can reach Succhivo in a number of ways but most people do so via the local bus system. There are three bus routes that pass through Succhivo, the CS, the CD and the number 1. If starting from Ischia Porto, Casamicciola, Lacco Ameno or Forio it's best to take the CS which takes around 33 minutes or the 1 which takes 31 minutes. You can also use the CD which circles the island in a clock-wise direction (CD stands for Circolare Destra which means "Circular Right"), it takes longer than the CS if travelling from Ischia Porto, around 43 minutes but it's the quicker option from any location within Barano or the villages of Serrara and Fontana.
