On a clear day the island of Ventotene can be clearly seen from Ischia's west coast and lies around an hour away from Ischia by boat. It belongs to an island archipelago known as the Pontine Islands of which Ponza is the largest and best known. 

The population is very small, just over seven hundred at last count and measures at 3km by 800 metres. 

The main sights are Piazza Castello and Ventotene beach.

During the summer it's possible to take a day trip from Ischia to Ventotene which provides a fascinating and fun day out.
