Things to see in Procida
Latest update: 22 January 2024
Ischia Review now offers thorough advice on things to see in Procida the neighbouring island. Procida lies just off the coast of Naples in Italy's southern region of Campania.
Typical journey times from Naples are 40 minutes by hydrofoil or an hour by ferry. There's also the option of crossing from the nearby port of Pozzuoli where journey times are shorter: 20 minutes by hydrofoil and 35 minutes by ferry. Once you get to Procida you can see the majority of sights on foot, starting at the main port on the island: Marina Grande. The port has some charming buildings, a pretty church and lots of places where you can eat and drink. |

From Marina Grande it's just a short walk across to the other side of the island where you can see the main area of interest: Marina Corricella. The iconic marina adorns covers of guide books and is one of the prettiest sights in Italy. The multi-coloured houses of the tiny fishing village contrast beautifully with the sea behind them.
Many people come to Procida as it was the main area of filming for the movie Il Postino with Marina Corricella featuring frequently in some of the most important scenes. To get the best view of the Marina you can take a walk up to the walled citadel of Terra Murata and it is from here that the full beauty of the place can be captured.
