Campagnano is a small yet important village in Ischia, close to Ischia Ponte. The village is famous for its annual event the "Presepe Vivente" (Live Nativity) to celebrate Christmas. The area is popular among hikers who take such routes as the Piano Liguori Walk or the Schiappone to Campagnano via La Scarrupata walk.
There are a few restaurants (Barracuda, Ristorante Il Torchio & Ristorante Pizzeria La Capannina), hotels (Hotel Ristorante Il Torchio and Hotel La Capannina) and bars (Village Cafe) close to the village centre where you'll also find the Chiesa di Santa Maria Annunziata as its centrepiece. |
How to get to Campagnano
Campagnano lies just to the south of Ischia Ponte and is best reached by public transport, car or scooter. The easiest way to get there is to take the bus, either a C12 or a C13. The C13 is much the quicker of the two, taking around 15 minutes from Ischia Porto as opposed to around 25 minutes for the C12 which stops in more places. If driving or riding, use the main SS270 road and head clockwise from Ischia Porto (go anti-clockwise if driving from Barano or Serrara Fontana) until you reach the Pilastri Aqueduct. Follow the road all the way until you reach a cross-section with Via Vecchia Campagnano from which point it's signposted.
