Ischia Porto is the first place that most visitors to the island of Ischia see and in many ways it's the most important. With a figure of around 16,000 It has the largest number of permanent residents of any of the island's six main towns and its busy port traffics the majority of Ischia's visitors to and from Naples via ferries and hydrofoils.
Upon arrival at Ischia Porto visitors find an attractive port area flanked on one side by the trendy Riva Destra (Right Bank in English), an elegant pathway that houses dozens of bars and restaurants, each with a view across the port. |

There are a number of beaches close to the port, the main one of which San Pietro Beach attracts the most attention with its wide expanse of golden sand.
The town is also drenched in history with a wide range of churches to visit as well as having appeared in dozens of feature films.
