Abbazia  di  San  Michele  Procida​

The Abbazia di San Michele (Saint Michael's Abbey in English) is one of the main sights around the ancient walled town of Terra Murata at the northern tip of Procida. 

The building started life as a monastery as long ago as the 11th century but most of what you can see these days goes back to the 16th century.

​This fascinating building is constructed over various levels, one of which is a library with an incredible collection of literature.  It's possible to take a guided tour of the Abbey and its library during the summer months. 

To reach the abbey from Marina Grande you can take a C2 bus which takes around 20 minutes (it doesn't go directly to Terra Murata) or walk in around the same time.
