The bay of La Scannella in Panza is one of Ischia's hidden jewels. Its sparklingly clear water attract dozens of yachts, speedboats and swimmers.
With several caves to explore close by and the rocks under the water it's also a great place for snorkeling. Although it's best reached by boat, you can get close to the area on foot. From the main square in Panza there's a road called Via Madonna delle Grazie that leads towards the sea and is flanked by a cafe bar on the left (Bar Lina) and some shops such as a hairdresser's on the right. |

If you then follow the signs for Albergo Saint Leonard for around 20-30 minutes (depending on your walking speed and fitness) you will eventually arrive at the hotel. To the left of the hotel is a steep path that leads down to the sea.
About halfway down the path you eventually reach a gate to the hotel/restaurant La Scannella. You can walk down the steps all the way to the sea where you will see the hotel & restaurant complex. Although the main pools are for guests only you can pay to use the some of them if you'd like to have a swim or alternatively you can just stop there for a light snack or coffee while you take in the breathtaking views.
