BARANO
Latest update: 15 August 2024
Barano is one the six "comunes" (similar to a borough) of Ischia and covers 12 square kilometres of the south western section of the island, with Serrara Fontana to the west and Ischia Porto & Ischia Ponte to the east.
Without question the most attractive destination for visitors to Barano is Maronti Beach with its golden sand and turqiouse water. Maronti is the largest beach on the island and something of a resort in its own right with a number of bars, restaurants and extensive accommodation options. |

With a mixture of beaches and mountain passes, Barano is a fascinating area in which to explore Ischia's wildlife and some stunning views. Interesting walking routes include Monte Cotto which starts from the village of Testaccio, the village that lies half way down the road to the beach from the main road.
Apart from the comune of Barano there is also Barano Village and other small villages such as Piedimonte, Buonopane and Fiaiano.
