One of the most popular tourist resorts in Southern Italy, Sorrento is famous for its great accommodation and dining options.
Main sights in the town include the bustling Piazza Tasso and its narrow streets which are full of bars and restaurants. From there it's just a short walk down to the Villa Comunale from where you can get fabulous views across the Bay of Naples or check out a wedding at the Cloisters of San Francesco. You can also head down to the pretty Marina Grande which is a traditional fishing village with some of the best restaurants in the town and a great place for a spot of people-watching. |

One of Sorrento's greatest assets is its geographical location which puts it within touching distance of a number of famous destination. For example, it's only a short drive to the major towns along the Amalfi Coast such as Ravello, Positano and Amalfi itself, while even easier is the ability to hop on a ferry and visit the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida.
You can also take a train from Sorrento to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum or carry on to the end of the line and the metropolis of Naples with its own array of sights.
