LIDO DEI MARONTI
Latest update: 9 May 2022
Lido dei Maronti is a "frazione" of the comune (borough) of Barano on Ischia's south coast. The area shares its name with its most famous landmark, Maronti Beach which is the largest and one of the most popular beaches on the island.
There are dozens of hotels, bars and restaurants in the area but little in the way of shops, supermarkets or nightlife as the area is geared up to make the most of the sunshine hours on the beach. How to get to Lido dei Maronti: |
There are three bus routes that head directly down to Maronti Beach, the numbers 5, 10 and 11. None of these buses go from the main hubs of Forio, Sant'Angelo or Ischia Porto but with the same 90 minute ticket you can use the CS or CD routes to get off at Piedimonte, Serrara, Fontana or Buonopane and then change. A novel way of getting to Maronti Beach is by water taxi from the neighboring village of Sant'Angelo which costs just €3 per person each way. By car it's best to follow the SS270 circular road to the south of the island and then turn off when directed either from Piedimonte or Testaccio before following the signs.
