PIEDIMONTE
Latest update: 7 May 2022
The village of Piedimonte belongs to the comune (like a borough) of Barano d'Ischia on the south-east of the island.
It's a largely residential area with a supermarket a florist, a bank and some specialist shops. Of interest for visitors are the two cafes Aloha and Il Bigne as well as the Pietra Salata restaurant. The centrepiece of the village is the beautiful Chiesa Santa Maria La Porta, next to which is a small children's play area. How to get to Piedimonte: |
Piedimonte lies between the villages of Ischia Ponte to the north and Barano to the south. It sits just next to the main SS270 road that circles the island making it easy to reach by car, scooter or local bus. There are a number of bus routes than run through or close to the village including the CS and CD buses that ring the island in clock-wise (CD) and anti-clockwise (CS) directions. If coming from Ischia Porto, Casamicciola, Lacco Ameno or Forio it's best to take the CD while from anywhere else the CS provides the shorter journey time. Quickest of all is the number 5 bus which takes just 10 minutes from Ischia Porto.
