The Ischia Events Calendar for 2022 is gradually being updated as we enter the new year. There has been so much disruption since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic but at the time of writing, it looks as though 2022 might be a much better year.
So we'll start to add the dates in as soon as they become available but if you see an event that you're interested in and we haven't quite updated it yet, just let us know and we'll investigate for you. The major Italian national holidays are included alongside the events that are specific to Ischia and there really are some great ones to look forward to throughout the year. |

Event: La Festa di Sant’Antonio Abate (also called Sant’Antuono)
Celebration in honour of the saint in different villages across the island (such as in Campagnano or Piellero in Forio). Sant’Antuono is the protector of the animals and pets and on this day many locals take their pets (but also horses, chickens, cows or pigs) to the hamlet of Piellero in Forio, where a small chapel dedicated to the saint is located. Here a special mass is celebrated around a bonfire, a purifying and well wishing ritual against evil.

Event: La Festa di San Giorgio Martire - Celebration in honour of the patron saint of Testaccio. The image of the holy saint is taken in a procession from the Chiesa di San Giorgio in Testaccio to Maronti Beach for a benediction of the beach and the sea. San Giorgio Martire has been celebrated since the middle ages, worshipped and named as a protector against the invasions of the Saracens.
