Ischia Review works with a carefully selected group of car hire companies across Ischia, in order to provide you with a reliable, friendly and low-cost service.

With our partnerships we are able to offer discounted rates on cars, scooters, bicycles and electric bikes with rates available for daily or weekly hire.

We also make life easy for you by arranging delivery of your vehicle to your hotel so that it's waiting for you when you arrive, ensuring that you don't waste any of your valuable holiday time by visiting offices or making phone calls. You also have the choice of collecting the cars yourself from either of our offices in Ischia Porto or Forio.

Our cars have all passed the stringent safety tests required before they are allowed to be used for rental, and all are maintained, cleaned and checked on a daily basis.

All you need to do is tell us when you are visiting Ischia and what type of vehicle you will be needing. As soon as we have that information, we will check on availability and then provide you with our discounted rates.

Once we have agreed a rental with you, we will collect your deposit on-line and then make arrangements for your car (or scooter) to be delivered to your hotel or to the port when you arrive on the island. You will then be met by a representative of the car-hire company who will have the paperwork and keys ready for you. Once you have paid the remaining balance and gone through the vehicle inspection, the keys will then be handed to you.

You must ensure to return the vehicle to the agreed location (usually the same place as where you took possession of it) by the agreed time, and with the same amount of fuel with which it was given to you.

Please be aware that rental periods start at 9am each day rather than from the time when you pick the car up. If for example you collect a car at 1pm, your full day rental will be finished by 9am the following morning.

Above is our list of vehicles that are available for hire, once you know what kind of vehicle you'd like, please let us know by using the drop-down list and form below and we'll get right back to you with further details and prices. Alternatively, you can send us an email if you have any questions.

RENTAL  CAR  INSURANCE

When renting a car in Ischia your rental agreement will automatically include the basic RCA insurance which allows you to legally drive the car and also covers damage to any third party vehicles. However, should you be found to be at fault for an accident, you will be liable for the cost of the damages caused to the car you are renting. Some, but not all, of the companies that we work with offer insurance premiums which can lower the total amount that you can be liable for. The daily amount to pay for these policies varies from €5 to €10 per day and each one offers its own maximum liability ranging from €300 to €1500. You can go one step further and remove any liability by taking out a "Car Hire Excess Insurance Policy" and you will find many established and trustworthy companies offering these types of policy. Offers can be found if you shop around online (and by using the Google search engine local to your own country) you will be able to find a large number of deals with varying levels of cover.

It’s also a good idea to check with your credit card company to see if they offer car rental insurance cover automatically with purchases made. Please note however, to make a subsequent claim you must have paid for the car rental with the credit card you intend to make the claim on. If you pay for your rental in cash your credit card company’s insurance will not be valid.

Of course, accidents can and do happen but the level of damages caused in Ischia is on average comparatively very low to what you may find on the Italian mainland where most rental cars are no more than a few years old and driving speeds are much faster. In Ischia there are no motorways, just single carriageway roads with low speed-limits. Couple this with the fact that most cars are at least a few years old it becomes difficult to cause a great amount of damage.

We advise driving carefully and sensibly to minimise the risk of damaging the rental car and the passengers within it. In most cases we’ve found that additional car insurance is an unnecessary expense although we accept there are a small number of occasions where it proves to be beneficial.

I should also add that theft of cars in Ischia is very rare due to the fact that we're on an island. If a car was to be stolen it would be almost impossible for somebody to take the car off the island on a ferry without it being picked up by the authorities. The island is also not big enough for anybody to make practical use of a stolen car without being detected very quickly.

RENTAL  TERMS  &  CONDITIONS:

(Appr. Spec. art. 1341 – 1342 of the civil code)

1.       Rental without driver and without fuel at an unlimited mileage.

2.       It is forbidden to transport hired cars or scooters outside of the island of Ischia.

3.       The duration of the rental is from 9:00am until 9:00am the following day.

4.       All rentals that begin in between those times end at 9:00am the following day.

5.       The customer must be at least 21 years of age and must have had his/her driving license for at least one year.

6.       The client has to be the holder of a credit card

7.       The client must check the condition of the vehicle before renting as damages that are not notified will be charged to him or her.

8.       In the event of theft of the vehicle the client is liable for the amount for a replacement.

9.       If the client is found to be the guilty party in the event of an accident then he or she is liable for the costs of repair.

10.   The client has the option of extra insurance cover charged at €8 per day. The extra insurance limits damage costs to a €300 excess for any necessary repairs as a result of an accident in which he or she is deemed to be at fault.

11.   The client must inform the rental car company of any accidents that happen during their possession of the vehicle, even those of small importance and that haven’t caused damage to things, people or animals.

12.   The client will be responsible for any fines that are imposed on the vehicle during the rental period. The customer must communicate any fines received and not paid during the possession of the vehicle and ensure that the necessary amount is compensated to the rental company.

13.   The client agrees to respect the road signs and to particularly avoid the no-parking zones. In cases where this doesn’t happen at the moment of the verbal notification, the rental car company will caution the client (through recorded delivery letter with advice of receipt, which will also be considered as a default) responsible for the payment of the fine and also the cost of the recorded delivery.  In the case of failure of payment, the rental car company will turn to the legal authorities concerned in order to obtain what is owed as well as the legal costs.

14.   If the highway code is violated during the rental period, the customer authorizes the car rental company to use his or her credit card presented at the act of the contract, for payment of the fine.

15.   In case of loss of the documents, of the keys, of the plate of circulation, the costs of the expenses will be debited to the client to sustain.

16.  Deposit payments are made in order to secure availability of a vehicle. In the case of customer cancellation of either number of days or of particular dates of rental, deposits are non-refundable.
