The Chiesa Santa Maria delle Mercede was constructed in the eighteenth century and is still one of the most beautiful churches on the island. It's located in the village of Fontana and can sometimes be confused with a second church in the village, Chiesa di Sant'Antonio da Padova, both of which have a yellow and white façade. The Santa Maria delle Mercede is located at a bend in the road that runs through the village and it's only from the inside that its true scale can be appreciated.
You can find the church easily by taking a CS or CD bus from Ischia Porto, Casamicciola, Lacco Ameno or Forio. There are various bus stops in the village from where you have a very short walk to the church which is situated along the main road very close to a large car park.
