IL BOSCO INCANTATO (THE ENCHANTED FOREST)
IL BOSCO INCANTATO (THE ENCHANTED FOREST)
Tucked away just off the main shopping street on the island, the Enchanted Forest offers an attractive festive diversion for visitors to Ischia.
From the middle of December to the middle of January you may be forgiven for feeling slightly startled as you walk along Via Edgardo Cortese in Ischia Porto. With the huge Christmas tree in Piazza degli Eroi fresh in your memory you could easily turn your attention towards food as the delicious sweet smells emanate from the market stalls but wait, what's that strange noise?
As you cross the road the ghostly sounds of swamp animals start to grab your attention before being dazzled by the light-show that is the Enchanted Forest (Il Bosco Incantato). This curious copse lies just off the main shopping area in Ischia but feels like a million miles from anywhere as you become hypnotised by the multi-sensual assault.
Full of strange creatures such as unicorns, brightly coloured butterflies and flamingoes the park has been installed as a Christmas treat for the people of Ischia and its visitors. Entrance is completely free and it stays open all day and long into the night. Via Edgardo Cortese links Piazza degli Eroi to Corso Vittoria Colonna where the Christmas ice-rink has been installed as part of the Christmas in Ischia festivities.
The lighting and sound effects are a credit to the team that put it all together and a must-see if you happen to be in Ischia over Christmas and the new year.
