Location: Piazza Marina, Casamicciola
In the main square of Casamicciola is the pretty church of Buon Consiglio, founded in 1821 by a small group of shop owners and master mariners and dedicated to Our Lady of Good Council, S. John the Baptist and the Souls in Purgatory. The interior was refurbished in 1929, when the walls were inlaid with marble.
The façade forms part of the frontage of shops onto the piazza. It is divided into three stories with a rectangular entrance doorway and window above. The top story forms the bell tower.
It’s rectangular in plan with a single nave and choir. The flat roof is broken by a dome over the nave and the walls are divided by large, square, piers supporting blind, round headed arches and a continuous entablature. The frescoes are by Canino. There are two framed paintings on either wall, one of The Baptism of Christ and The Heart of the Redeemer, (19th c) by an unknown artist.
