The Chiesa di Sant'Alfonso is a small church in the region known as Vatoliere which comes under the comune of Barano. The simple façade has a small bell-tower as its centrepiece while the basic interior is lined with rows of wooden benches.
To reach Vatoliere it's best to take the main road that circles Ischia, the SS270. If driving from Ischia Porto, head towards Barano and pass the Pilastri Aqueduct. You will shortly see a right hand turn for Piedimonte but you need to stay on this road a little longer, until you reach the mini-roundabout which is signposted towards Testaccio. Take this left hand turn and you will shortly see the church on the left hand side of the road.
