EQUOBAR
EQUOBAR
Equobar is located in a little side street between Forio harbour and the town centre. More than being a café, snack bar or a restaurant, it's a veritable centre of culture with much more to offer than refreshment.
There are two entrances to Equobar, one of which takes you into an art gallery which showcases local talent as well as work from guest visitors. Moving through to the next room you find a bar area with seating and a whole range of ethnic, fair trade and health foods to buy.
Throughout the beautifully designed room there are some wonderful touches including the famous chairs and tables made solely from cardboard by local artist Manuel di Chiara.
In this, the main dining area you can stop for a coffee or tea with a much wider choice of these types of beverage than you would expect to find in a traditional Italian bar. You can also order snacks and light meals with a heavy emphasis on healthy eating and sustainably-sourced produce.
A further room connects to the bar where you'll find bean bags scattered around the edges and a piano at one end. This area is a real cultural hub in the town, drawing visitors from multi-ethnic and multi-national backgrounds. Music is really important at Equobar as well with no set style or limitations on what can be played and it's easy to understand why this unique place is thriving.
To reach Equobar from Forio port, with the sea behind you cross the road and turn right towards the Hotel Villa Carolina. At the corner of the long row of restaurants you'll see Bar La Cambusa and La Bella Napoli restaurant. Walk up the alley between the bar and restaurant and you'll shortly see Equobar up ahead on the right.
