GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! MONDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2014
Every day we bring you a fresh instalment of our Ischia blog, Good Morning Ischia! Here you can see the entry for Good Morning Ischia! Monday 10th February 2014.
Good Morning Ischia!
It's been a rough old day on the island with heavy winds battering us and causing the suspension of various hydrofoil services. My morning scooter journey into Forio wasn't the most fun as it started to rain just as soon as I hopped on and passing Cava dell'Isola beach was a hair-raising experience as it seems to work as a bit of a wind tunnel down there. Anyway I made it back safe and sound and after replying to almost all of your e-mails I thought I'd just give you a quick update and post another daily photo for you.
Today's photo comes from Casa D'Ambra where you can take a unique tour around their museum, cantina and vineyards. This is one of our most popular days out and the "in love, with wine" experience is proving very popular. For those who are not sure what it involves, after having a guided tour around the Casa d'Ambra museum followed by the cantina where they make a huge number of bottles per year (I seem to remember the figure of half a million being mentioned but I can't remember exactly so this could well be wrong, there was definitely a 5 and some zeroes in the number though if that helps!), you take a drive up Mount Epomeo to the Frassitelli Vineyard where you get some spectacular views of the island from what is one of its highest points, almost 800 metres above sea level.
At the vineyard you get an explanation of how the grapes are grown and whether you're a wine expert or not this is a fascinating tale and really makes you appreciate the wine and the effort and care that goes into its creation. If you take the "in love, with wine" option then you get VIP treatment as you're served an exclusive meal at the top of the mountain. You get your own personal waiter and cook who are there just for you and your partner. The food is based on typical Ischian cuisine and of course you get to try some of the tremendous D'Ambra wines. If you're looking for a romantic highlight for your holiday then this is certainly something that you should consider. Ask us for more details if interested.
Ok that's all for today, we're making some exciting updates and changes to the site at the moment so for the next few weeks or so the daily photo will appear on the facebook page. Feel free to drop in there and say hello or make your feelings about Ischia known and we'll be very happy to hear from you wherever you may be in the world.
Back with more tomorrow anyway.
Ciao!
