GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! MONDAY 28TH OCTOBER 2013
Welcome to our Ischia blog, Good Morning Ischia! Here you can see the entry for Monday 28th October 2013.
Good morning Ischia!
The fantastic October weather continues today, there's a mixture of bright sun and some clouds this morning but the outlook for the next few days is looking great with temperatures of 25° celcius/76° fahrenheit forecast for this afternoon. You will also find the evenings very pleasant with a minimum of 19° celcius/67° fahrenheit meaning a light jacket or cardigan if you're going out somewhere.
Today's photo is of Punta San Pancrazio, a small bay between Ischia Ponte and Barano. The striking little cove with its crystal clear water can be seen from the area known as Piano Liguori which is a favourite among walkers and trekkers.
Piano Liguori is just one of many hiking routes on the island, making Ischia a popular destination all year round. There are countless other routes that you can take but some of the more noteworthy include "I Sentieri Della Lucertola" (the paths of the lizard), a series of paths that have been marked out to take in some of the most spectacular scenery along the way. These paths have been created to allow walkers of different fitness levels the chance to enjoy a trek around the island at their own pace.
Apart from the Sentieri Della Lucertola there are many routes across Mount Epomeo where you can enjoy different types of terrain including pine forests or open plains with breathtaking views across the sea to the neighbouring islands such as Capri and Procida or to points on the mainland such as Naples and Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast.
Most of the regular walking routes are accompanied by a series of restaurants and bars which always seem to be in just the right place as you grow a little weary or need a caffeine-boost to spur you on. A particular favourite tradition is to stop at some of these places for some bruschetta and a drop of wine which are usually made using home-grown produce, giving them that extra zip of flavour.
We'll be adding more information about the various walking routes in Ischia and you can see some of them already on our Trekking in Ischia page. However, if you would like more information for a walk you have planned in the near future please drop us a line or give us a call and we'll be very happy to help.
Wherever you choose to go in Ischia today, have a great time and we'll be back tomorrow with another update.
A presto!
