GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! MONDAY 4TH NOVEMBER 2013
Welcome to our Ischia blog, Good Morning Ischia! Here you can see the entry for Monday 4th November 2013.
Good morning Ischia!
It's a bright and sunny start to the day but some of the forecasts are predicting wind and rain as the day progresses. Temperatures however are looking very healthy with a maximum of 25° celcius (77° fahrenheit) and a minimum of 19°C (65°F) predicted.
Today's photo is of the beautiful little bay in Ischia known as "La Scannella". The crystal clear water of this spot make it a magnet for boats and yachts so that their passengers can drop anchor and go for a swim or do some snorkelling around the rocks.
Although it's best reached by boat, you can get close to the area on foot. From the main square in Panza there's a road called Via Madonna delle Grazie that leads towards the sea and is flanked by a cafe bar on the left and some shops such as a hairdresser's on the right. If you then follow the signs for Albergo Saint Leonard for around 20-30 minutes (depending on your walking speed and fitness) you will eventually arrive at the hotel. To the left of the hotel is a steep path that leads down to the sea.
About halfway down the path you eventually reach a gate to the hotel/restaurant La Scannella. You can walk down the steps all the way to the sea where you will see the hotel & restaurant complex. Although the main pools are for guests only you can pay to use the some of them if you'd like to have a swim or alternatively you can just stop there for a light snack or coffee while you take in the breathtaking views.
The town of Panza is located between Forio and Sant'Angelo and is classified as a "frazione" (a town in the community of a main borough) of Forio. Although main shopping area and piazza are fairly small, Panza offers some of the most scenic and interesting parts of the island such as Sorgeto Hot Springs and at various times you can be looking at stunning views of Citara, Sant'Angelo and even across to the island of Capri.
There are some great walking routes around Panza so if you're interested and would like to know more please let us know and we'll give you some navigational tips.
Ok, I hope you all have a great day and remember we're here if you need any help or have any questions about Ischia.
Ciao!
