GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! SATURDAY 1ST FEBRUARY 2014

Good Morning Ischia!
After what seems like much longer I'm back in Ischia after a brief holiday and I must say it's very nice to be home! The weather here is much warmer that it was in the place I spent my holiday and it was great to be able to take a layer or two of clothing off shortly after arriving at Naples airport. In fact the island has been shrouded in a light dusting of red dusty sand, carried from Africa by the warm Scirocco wind that's provided a bit of light relief from the mid-winter cold.
The maximum temperature today has been as high as 17° Celcius (63° fahrenheit) which is an extremely pleasant surprise having come from somewhere where it's been below zero all week. We've had the windows open all afternoon and it's even managed to stay dry as well. The coldest we're likely to get this evening should be 12° Celcius (53° fahrenheit) and we look set for something similar tomorrow too.
Today's photo comes from the beautiful bay of Sorgeto in Panza, a small town in the district of Forio. It's most famous for its natural jacuzzi with rock pools where you can sit and relax in the hot water day and night but as this photo shows, it's also one of Ischia's beauty spots with its clear water that allows you to see the sea-bed even when you're stood on top of a mountain.
Having been away for a week I've got lots of e-mails to catch up on and if you're waiting for a reply rest assured you'll get one some time today. I've also had some good ideas about features to add to the site, one of which being a "chat & drink evening" where visitors to the island get the chance to mingle with some of the locals while learning a bit of the language in a relaxing and informal setting, keep an eye out for that over the next few days.
