GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! SUNDAY 12TH JANUARY 2014
Welcome to our Ischia blog, Good Morning Ischia! Here you can see the entry for Sunday 12th January 2014.
Good morning Ischia!
It's a very relaxing, sleepy Sunday here in Ischia as the island enjoys its weekly day of rest. Categorizing the weather conditions is a little tricky today as it's really neither here nor there (in Italy they say "ne pesce ne carne", which translates as "neither fish nor meat" and has just about the same meaning). It's a little bit cloudy overhead without feeling like it's going to rain any time soon, while there's also a rare haze that's making visibility very low. I can just about make out the sea just a few hundred metres away but what I can see looks very calm.
The weathermen are predicting a whopping 18° Celcius (64° fahrenheit) as today's maximum temperature but without any sunshine I have my doubts it will reach that high. Nevertheless, it's very pleasant outside and warm enough to get away with a light jacket or jumper if you're planning on taking a stroll. I'm not sure either if the predicted minimum of 13°C (55°F) is entirely accurate and you can probably knock 3 or 4 degrees off that and expect it to be a bit chilly tonight if out and about.
Today's photo comes from Sant'Angelo on Ischia's southern coast, showing the clear, clean water which means you can see the seabed even if standing high up on one of the vantage points that peer down on to the village. Looking to the right of the photo above you can see the road that leads down to the pedestrianised village while straight ahead in the distance some boats have dropped anchor in one of the picturesque bays, no doubt for a spot of swimming and snorkelling. What you can't see from the photo is Cava Grado beach which lies in a pretty little bay just behind the hill that juts out from the right hand side.
The whole area is a favourite destination for walkers with some fabulous scenery along the way. There's really something for every level from professional hiker to lazy Sunday afternoon stroller and best of all there are dozens of great places to stop for a well-earned rest or an electrifying coffee to give you an energy boost for the rest of your walk. We've got lots of ideas and routes for walks around Sant'Angelo and the rest of the island so if you'd like more info on that click here or just drop us a line and we'll be happy to help.
Ok that's all from me for this morning, have a great day and there'll be more here about Ischia tomorrow.
A domani!
