GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! SUNDAY 13TH OCTOBER 2013
Welcome to our Ischia blog, Good Morning Ischia! Here you can see the entry for Sunday 13th October 2013.
Good morning Ischia!
After yesterday's morning and afternoon rain things gradually started to brighten up again and today looks set to be dry and sunny with temperatures reaching 26 celcius/79 fahrenheit.
Today's photo is of a pretty house in Sant'Angelo which sits along a wonderful walking route with some of the best views on the island. From the centre of Sant'Angelo you can walk to Le Fumarole beach and also to Maronti beach. The walk to Le Fumarole takes around 15-20 minutes and to get to Maronti take around 30-40 minutes.
As you enter the pedestrianised area of Sant'Angelo with the gift shops on your left hand side and the sea on your right, you will come across a small archway that leads down into the main square. Just before the archway on the left is the path where you can begin either of these two walks. Take the left hand turn and then immediately turn right towards the smaller path at the opposite end of the square. Follow this path for around 15 minutes and you get some breathtaking views of Sant'Angelo, Le Fumarole beach and Maronti beach. The path passes by Aphrodite Thermal Gardens and down to Le Fumarole beach. If you're still feeling energetic by the time you've reached this point you can avoid the right hand turn to Le Fumarole beach and continue straight up the steep hill in front of you. Depending on your level of fitness, this path can be quite tiring as it is very steep in places but you are rewarded for your efforts with some more spectacular scenery as you walk along the cliffs that divide the two beaches.
Once you're at the end of the path you could turn left to visit Cavascura for a sauna in the thermal water caves or you could turn right for the beach and maybe treat yourself to a spot of lunch at one of the many restaurants that line the back of the beach. If after lunch you've had enough of walking you can take a water taxi back to Sant'Angelo for around €3 per person. A great way to spend a morning in Ischia, exploring, keeping fit & healthy and with a nice lunch to top it off!
Enjoy your day whatever you do and remember we're here to help if you have any questions about the island.
