GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! SUNDAY 20TH APRIL 2014

Good Morning Ischia!
Happy Easter and Buona Pasqua once again! I hope you're all having a nice Sunday lie-in similar to the one I have just awoken from. It's another special day in Ischia, not only because of the Easter celebrations but also because the weather seems to have moved on to a different level from previous days. Although it's a slightly cloudy start we should be in for a good deal of sunshine starting from late morning and the maximum temperature is going to be up around 19° Celcius (66° fahrenheit), and rising even higher tomorrow.
Today's photo comes from the big event of the day that will be taking place in Forio town centre. Starting at around 10am, today is the famous Corsa dell'Angelo procession which tells the story of Jesus's resurrection through the medium of various statues held aloft by different teams who perform a series of manoeuvres which depict the re-unification between Jesus and his mother, the Virgin Mary.
The Corsa dell'Angelo is a very different affair to the moving and sometimes sombre Actus Tragicus/Passion of Christ event which took place in Forio on Good Friday. Today with the Corsa dell'Angelo the mood is generally a lot brighter and joyful with a slightly more light-hearted feel to it. That said, the town centre will once again be very busy with lots of people out and about, wearing their Sunday best and giving each other their best wishes (auguri) for the season.
Ok, after my over-indulgent lie-in I need to get my skates on and whizz down to Forio town centre to get some photos before the action finishes so I'll wish you all a great Easter Sunday wherever you may be.
