Wild Yellow Daisies in Sant'Angelo
GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! SUNDAY 22ND DECEMBER 2013

Good morning Ischia!
Wow, who would believe it’s winter! We’ve got an absolutely gorgeous day here in Ischia just three days before Christmas. Standing outside just now you could feel the warm sun on your back and it really feels like spring out there. There’s a slight breath of wind but the sea is nice and calm with a few yachts and weekend sailors out on the water. I’m seeing conflicting reports for the outlook over the next few days but I’ll optimistically go with the positive ones and hope it stays like this for a little while longer.
Temperatures today are similar to those of yesterday with a high of 16° Celcius (60° fahrenheit) and a low of 11°C (52°F) predicted.
Today’s photo comes from Sant’Angelo where you could see the beautiful wild yellow daisies (margherite selvatiche gialle in Italian) out in full bloom, growing freely at the roadside on the downwards approach from Succhivo. Despite being winter there are still many flowers to be seen including roses and dahlias, providing that wonderful splash of colour that serves as an attractive garnish to the island’s natural beauty.
Having taken delivery of my new scooter yesterday I will now be able to reach new parts of the island and keep you up to date with some great photos showing how the island changes through the different seasons. I’ll be providing photos of said scooter very soon but from my first few rides on it I can highly recommend the experience to anybody planning a visit to the island soon as they really are a lot of fun. If you happen to be in Ischia right now and see someone wearing a helmet with the Italian flag then that could well be me so be sure to give a wave!
I’ll be out and about again this afternoon with my camera so be sure to check in tomorrow morning for another update. Now for a little bit of the dreaded Christmas shopping!
