Good morning Ischia!
There are a few clouds around this morning but temperatures are still very good for this time of year, a high of 24° celcius (75° fahrenheit) is expected this afternoon.
Today's photo is of Ischia's friendly neighbour, Procida. Smaller than Ischia both in terms of size and population, Procida offers something slightly different.
The sleepy island was made famous by the film "Il Postino", the story of a local postman played by the late Massimo Troisi, who ends up as the personal delivery-boy to the world-acclaimed poet Pablo Neruda. The story follows the unlikely relationship as the literary genius teaches the poorly-educated postman to create poetry. Much of the film was filmed in Procida and there are many references to it all over the island, including places such as the "Locanda del Postino" in Porto Coricella where many important scenes were shot.
The island is often the first drop-off point for visitors to Ischia as some ferries and hydrofoils stop there on the way to Ischia. Procida is distinctive by its brightly-coloured houses that line the port area and the now-closed prison, "Carcere della Terra Murata" so make sure you don't get off there if you're trying to get to Ischia!
You can also find the wonderful sight of couples dancing the tango if you visit Chiaolelella beach, you can either watch while enjoying a relaxing drink, or better still join in and see if you can get your feet untangled into something resembling dance moves.
If you want to take a day-trip to Procida just look up the ferry and hydrofoil departure-times on our timetable. The ferry from Ischia takes around half an hour while the hydrofoil is slightly faster at just 15 minutes.
