GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! THURSDAY 6TH FEBRUARY 2014
Welcome to our Ischia blog, Good Morning Ischia! Here you can see the entry for Thursday 6th February 2014.
Ciao Ischia! (see what I did there!)
It's been a beautiful day on the island today and although it's way too early to really be real, there has been a definite hint of spring in the air. The clear skies and sunshine to match have caused various flowers such as the Dahlia in the garden to start blooming already and it's definitely felt a touch warmer. So perhaps not quite the end of winter but perhaps the beginning of the end or at the very least, the end of the beginning as Sir Winston Churchill would have said. Temperatures have hovered between 14° Celsius (57° Fahrenheit) and a minimum of 12° Celsius (53° Fahrenheit) and we have also had fairly strong winds out at sea although strangely enough not on the island itself.
Writing the blog as I am now in the evening, the island of Ventotene can be clearly seen with the streetlights flickering away in the distance. It always looks like there's something fascinating going on over there but I guess they must be thinking the same about us as well. It's an extremely clear evening too and you could almost put your hand out and grab a handful of stars but bear in mind they exploded zillions of years ago so they're not really there (or are they? I always get very confused by this).
Anyway, the outlook for the next few days is looking fantastic and if you cast your eyes down a little further you'll see three days of pure sunshine ahead so let's hope they've got their sums right on that one.
