GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! THURSDAY 9TH JANUARY 2014
Welcome to our Ischia blog, Good Morning Ischia! Here you can see the entry for Thursday 9th January 2014.
Good morning Ischia!
Don't believe the weathermen, they're all liars! Well maybe not all of them and maybe not all of the time but they've got it badly wrong today. It was supposed to be a day of full sun but instead we've got a thick layer of grey hanging over us and a little bit of dampness in the air which at the moment is falling just short of being rain. The garden lawn has taken on a new hue this morning with a sprinkling of yellow coming from some wild flowers that I'm yet to know the name of but I will endeavour to find out and let you know.
The only clues I personally have about the weather come from simply looking or standing outside so for what's about to happen rather that what's already happening we'll just have to trust those meteorologists with their computers, satellites and god knows what else to give us their predictions. The maximum temperature should reach as high as 17° Celcius (63° fahrenheit) and drop down to about 12°C (54°F) this evening. The prospects for the next few days appear to be very positive but how much trust do we have left in those forecasts?! We'll see tomorrow morning I guess.
Today's photo comes from last year's Ipomea Flower, Craft and Food Festival that was held at Negombo Thermal Gardens in Lacco Ameno. The annual event showcases the best of the region's horticultural specialities and includes lots of rare specimens of some spectacular plants and flowers.
The event takes place every spring and this year will see the 12th edition starting on Friday 23rd May and lasting for three days with final day being Sunday 25th May. Apart from the plants and flowers there are also local arts and crafts on display and available for purchase giving visitors the chance to walk away with some hand-made, original gifts or souvenirs to take home.
There's also an emphasis on food at the event, this year for example will see one of the world's strongest chillies on display, the famous/dreaded "Naga Morich" which can only be taken in very small quantities or by the very brave and sound of stomach!
Ticket prices haven't yet been announced but as soon as they are I'll give you all a reminder.
Ok that's all for today, I'll be back with more tomorrow morning. Let's hope my faith in weather forecasting is restored by that stage and we can enjoy that "predicted" sunshine!
