IL GROTTO DI MEZZAVIA DA GRAZIELLA
Il Grotto di Mezzavia da Graziella is a restaurant/snack bar located half way up Mount Epomeo in Serrara Fontana. It's situated at the point where most cars can't go any further and instead park up to then walk the last kilometre or so up to the top of the mountain.
A variety of dishes are available including the traditional "Coniglio all'Ischitana", the rabbit dish which is particular to Ischia. There are also lighter meals available such as bruschetta, salads and pasta dishes while to the side of the restaurant there's also a kiosk where you can grab a freshly-squeezed orange juice if you don't want to stop and sit down.
The main dining area is covered but with open sides which keeps it nice and cool during the summer while prices are kept very reasonable.
Da Graziella is a possible stop along one of the most popular walking routes on the island which starts from the village of Fontana and ends at the 788 metre high peak of Mount Epomeo. To get to the restaurant you can either walk up from Fontana, following the signs for Mount Epomeo from the village centre or instead, drive up the steep narrow road which is also sign-posted with the turn off just outside the village on the way down to Barano.
