MICRO-TAXI TOURS OF ISCHIA
MICRO-TAXI TOURS OF ISCHIA
There's no doubting the allure of a yellow cab in New York or a rickshaw in Bombay, but Ischia has its own iconic vehicle to rival those found in other parts of the world. We now offer visitors the chance to take a tour of Ischia in one of these fun taxis with their open sides and quirky exteriors and interiors, full of all kinds of bells and whistles!
The Micro-Taxis that you find in Ischia are adapted from the "Ape" three-wheeler agricultural vehicles that are so widespread in Italy and particularly in Ischia. "Ape" (pronounced Aahpay) in Italian means "Bee" in English, signifying that these vehicles are the big brother of the more famous Vespa scooters as the word "Vespa" in Italian means "Wasp" in English. The engines in the Micro-Taxis are slightly beefed-up to allow them to negotiate the island's hills with up to 3 passengers (plus the driver on board) and are also decorated in and out with bright colours. One of the best things about the Micro-Taxis is that they have open sides, meaning on a hot day you can enjoy the tours of the island in the open air and take plenty of photos along the way.
Ischia Review works in partnership with one of the island's best guides: Silvana Coppa is a qualified guide who speaks fluent English and now runs her own business called Ischia Guided Tours offering a variety of excursions in the micro-taxis. For prices and further details of Silvana's tours please write to her direct at [email protected]. If you also mention the source for your enquiry was ISCHIA REVIEW you'll receive a €10 discount on Silvana's prices.
For our own tours in a regular air-conditioned taxi please find our prices and booking details here.

Just wanted to thank you so much for the most fantastic tour and all the information your website provided. Our guide Silvana and driver Guiseppe were both fantastic hosts and guides and we really enjoyed touring the island in the Tuk Tuk - with the added bonus of watching the Vespa Rally set off from Castello Aragonese! After this brief taster of what Ischia has to offer we are already planning a holiday in Ischia for next year! We'll be in touch.
Thank you Mandy and Richard
