RISTORANTE PIZZERIA DA GAETANO
Ristorante Pizzeria Da Gaetano is located just outside of the centre of Ischia Porto and from its humble exterior you may be forgiven for thinking this is just a run of the mill snack bar/pizzeria. However, this restaurant offers a quirky tale with its fame reaching the other side of the world.
Despite having changed its physical location over the years, Da Gaetano has built up an enviable reputation for its pizzas, not only among the locals of Ischia but as far afield as Japan where there's a second restaurant of the same name in homage to the original in Ischia.
This all conspires to making the restaurant extremely popular, aided by the amiable Gaetano himself who is happy to talk with his international visitors and grateful for the restaurants recognition. It goes without saying that the pizzas are indeed excellent and of course made in the traditional Neapolitan way with the wood oven.
Prices are very cheap here too so if you can manage the 15 minute walk from the town centre or if you happen to be staying at one of the hotels or bed and breakfasts nearby, we recommend this as an interesting and surprising dining experience.

Directions:
From the roundabout just before the harbour, walk directly up the main street, passing the Hotel Villa Maria and then the Grand Hotel Delle Terme Re Ferdinando on your right. Then take the first right hand turn and keep going, passing various hotels including the Hotel Royal Terme and the Hotel Bellevue Benessere & Relax. When you get to the top of the hill the road bends left and shortly after passing Eyes Dinner Club and a five a side football pitch you'll see the entrance to Da Gaetano on the right, almost opposite a petrol station.
