BAR CALISE
Bar Calise is the most famous of all of Ischia's bars and cafes. It's situated on the corner of Piazza degli Eroi in Ischia Porto and draws both locals and tourists alike from all over the island. It has a grandiose garden area with seats kept away from the sun by the large amount of plants and waiters smartly dressed in their white uniforms that provide table service.
There's also a large seating area indoors and a huge array of cakes and desserts on display. You can also choose to just stand at the bar which works out considerably cheaper and if you want to do that it's just a case of going to the till when you arrive, tell them what you want, they'll give you a ticket for whatever you've paid for that you then take to the bar before telling the barman what you've ordered.
One thing that should be tried is the "Americanino" which is like a small cappuccino but with a more concentrated flavour and a nicely hidden dollop of cream inside that only the Bar Calise americaninos have.
There are several other Bar Calises on the island as well, Calise Al Porto which is by the port in Ischia Porto and Bar Calise Casamicciola.

Directions:
There are several Bar Calise cafes and restaurants around the island, this one is situated on the corner of Piazza degli Eroi, an area between Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte. From the main harbour area, walk towards the town and go straight across the mini roundabout with Hotel Villa Maria on its right corner. Walk all the way up the hill until you eventually reach a larger roundabout which is effectively Piazza degli Eroi. Bar Calise is easy to spot with its sign and large garden on the left hand corner.
