The Chiesa di San Rocco in Lacco Ameno was originally constructed in the sixteenth century but was destroyed by the earthquake which hit Ischia and specifically the towns of Casamicciola and Lacco Ameno in 1883. The church was eventually rebuilt with work commencing in 1970.
To reach the church, head towards Lacco Ameno on the main SS270 road from Ischia Porto. Just before you reach the main part of the town the road heads inland and up a hill, follow this road until you reach a roundabout and then turn left. You first pass another church, the Chiesa Maria SS Assunta in Cielo on your left before you see the Chiesa di San Rocco ahead of you at the end of the road.
