Gardenia Mare has emerged over time to become one of the most popular restaurants on the island of Ischia. Much of that popularity stems from the fact that it's not merely a restaurant but a location where you can choose to spend a whole day admiring the fabulous view from Cartaromana Bay across the water to Castello Aragonese and the islands of Procida & Vivara behind it.
The restaurant is also a private beach area where you can sit and relax under a canopy or even right in the sea with special sun loungers in the water. You can choose to do this before or during your meal but of course you're not obliged to if you're simply looking for somewhere to eat.
Open at lunch and dinner times, Gardenia Mare is best reached via water taxi from the nearby Ischia Ponte. After 5 minutes you arrive at the restaurant where a member of staff will greet you and show you to a table. The menu offers a nice mix between fresh fish, meat and pasta dishes with some excellent appetizers including the Bruschetta.
The main dining area is very simple, under a wooden shelter and with those wonderful views out to sea. Just in front of this are the various sun loungers which are arranged around the garden or down by the water.
With the friendly and attentive service combined with realistic prices it's easy to understand why Gardenia Mare has caused such a stir.
Gardenia Mare is a great option for anybody with a boat rental for the day or indeed their own boat.
The restaurant opens for lunch from 12:30 or for dinner from 19:30 but you can spend the whole day there from around 09:30 onwards, hiring a sunbed and umbrella for a price of €10 per person.

Directions:
By far the best way to reach Gardenia Mare is by water taxi. If you make your way to La Mandra Beach in Ischia Ponte which is next to the Miramare e Castello hotel, you can take a romantic 5 minute ride across the water to the restaurant passing the castle along the way.
