ISCHIA BACK TO NATURE RETREAT
We're not currently taking any bookings for accommodation but if you go to our Ischia Hotels page you'll be able to use the Booking.com search engine to browse through their options.
Set high up close to the top of Mount Epomeo, our beautiful old cottage offers the chance to delve back into the past and be at one with nature. This picturesque cottage with its incredible panoramic views has been used as a family retreat for generations and now we are able to share the experience with visitors to Ischia.
Close to the tiny church of Santa Maria al Monte in Forio, tucked away in its own hidden forest, our retreat invites guests who are looking for a bolt-hole, a way of getting away from modern life in search of the utmost tranquility. Without running water or electricity, life in the cottage is very different from what most of us are used to on a day to day basis but by learning the skills associated with living in a house of this kind, guests are able to reap the rewards that come from fending for yourself and harnessing the elements around you.
What we are offering is an experience for a limited number of days, anything from just one evening up to a maximum of three days. As you can see from the photos, the accommodation is very clean, comfortable and has an old-world charm. With two double beds, a kitchen, lounge and large outside terrace, the cottage is suitable for a group of friends or a family. However, the real fun comes from learning how to live in a place that takes you back to the past.
The young lady that owns the house has been cultivating vegetables, making her own wine, created an ingenious water system and has gradually learned how to make the very most of the unique elements that surround the dwelling. These skills have been partly self-taught and partly passed down through the generations, and we are now able to offer the chance to learn those skills to guests who want to come and experience a new way of life while they're in Ischia. With the home-owner who stays in a small annexe close to the main house always on-hand, guests are able to enjoy all the relaxing and intriguing features of this lifestyle without fear of getting caught out by nature.
This experience is open to anybody and everybody who wants to try something a bit different whilst learning some new skills and turning away, at least temporarily from the stresses and strains of modern-day life. The guide/owner is Italian but also speaks an excellent level of English, meaning she is able to communicate effectively with people from around the world.
