The Parrocchia Maria Santissima Madre della Chiesa is the most recently constructed church on the island and this is reflected in its untraditional and modern shape. The intriguing exterior of the church divides local opinion but it's hard to deny the aesthetic beauty which can also be found in the unusual interior.
The church is located in the village of Fiaiano within the comune of Barano. The best way to reach the area is by car and there are several possible routes. Perhaps the easiest route is to take the main road from Ischia Porto towards Barano and then turn right at the turn off for the village of Piedimonte. At the centre of Piedimonte is a Conad supermarket and to its right, another church, Chiesa di Santa Maria La Porta. From this point drive away from the village centre with the church on your left and follow the road as it bends round and up the hill. Stay on this road as it flattens out and you will shortly see the Parrocchia Maria SS Madre della Chiesa on your left.
